Thank you for all the views and comments on my last post. I would like now to inform sellers and buyers that I have proposed a possible solution to stop scammers from highjacking auctions denying honest buyers from bidding and causing a big loss to sellers. You can see all the info on my posted picture. I have also proposed an idea on how to proceed when a buyer does not want or can't pay when they have won an auction. This is on the pic as well. I welcome your comments and ideas.Lets make eBay even better.

A simpler solution to bid shielding would be to completely prohibit bid retractions during the final minute of the auction.
Your second proposal seems to be a variation on the existing option for a seller to send a Second Chance Offer.

@ivankobean, @nobody*s_perfect Make it the final 12 hours since listings can not be changed in the last 12 hours (GTC or Auction) ... may as well share that time value with Buyers & Bidders alike ... eBay could even post a note every time someone bids that retractions are not possible in the last 12 hours.

Yes it is simpler and you should propose it as well. They have to do something about it right?

IMHO retractions should still be allowed during the final 12 hours because one of the valid reasons is for typos.

I can't open the picture to read the text you say is on it.
Why can't you post the text here, to explain it?
Thanks

This is what they do about it.
Unsolicited idea submission policy
It's possible your time might be better spent elsewhere. Perhaps you could set up your own auction website and implement your ideas.

You want us to download something of yours onto our computer? Oh, yeah. That's gonna happen.

Most of the posters here are too smart to download unnecessary files to their computer/device. Before you give a smart answer to that, I am of course, completely capable of downloading potentially risky files without getting infected. I'm sure that all of us are capable of that.
But I'm not going to bother with that if you can't bother to post your pictures appropriately on a public forum. That's just rude.

To summarize the OP's attachment - the OP wants some sort of "secret reserve" that would only be enforced in cases when there is a late bid retraction.
I think the idea to too complex, it woul dbe hard to explain to both buyers and sellers, and would result in buyer confusion and dissatisfaction when they discovered that their winning bid was more than one bid increment above the next high bidder.
I also think it would open the door for sellers to use this "secret reserve" to artificiaqlly drive up winning bids.
Scenario 1: Seller uses shill bid retration to trigger "secret reserve"
Secret Reserve is set to $150.
Legit bidder A bids $100, high bid is $100.
Legit bidder B bids $150, high bid is $101.
Seller uses shill account to bid $200, high bid is $151.
Seller sees no sniper, so retracts his shill bid and triggers secret reserve of $150
Auction ends.
Result: the seller artificially raised the price for bidder B from $101 to $150.
Scenario 2: Seller uses shill bid to cheat
Secret Reserve is set to $150.
Legit bidder A bids $100, high bid is $100.
Legit bidder B bids $150, high bid is $101.
Seller uses shill account to bid $200, high bid is $151.
Legit bidder C bids $250, high bid is $201.
Seller see the sniper, so does not retract his bid.
Auction ends.
Result: the seller artificially raised the price for bidder C from $151 to $201.

It would be better not to enable him.

Your suggestion may be forwarded, but don't hold your breath while waiting for any changes. What yo have run across seems to be a case of two people placing Nuclear bids (Bids so high the bidder does not think the max will be reached) The person who retracted was not expecting the bidding to go as high as it did. If they can, they retract, (there is no time limit for retracting bids) if it happens too late they do not pay, and get an unpaid item strike.
You are getting responses from people who have a lot more experience with ebay auctions than you do, but refuse to accept what they have told you.

The result is the same, the essence is the same, your point of view is different, that's all

So what you are telling me is that sellers can bid on their own auction? What a world.Well we got to fix that as well. Anyway your amounts would never exist near the end of an auction for a 2017 MacBook pro.,which is my example in my first post.its all relatif to the item.
