Here we go again!

After months of getting used to listing my items, I discover that eBay programmers have done it again. The underworked and overpaid programmers again revised the way we have to list our items to the ridiculous. They seem to enjoy` making easy things frustrating. If things are working fine, why change them? Am I the only one who is frustrated with the new way of listing items?

Most have been frustrated from what I have been reading. I have listed a couple dozen or so items with the new tool. I am getting used to it.

I remember when Seller Hub came out. Took a bit to get used to that.

The thing is, in my opinion, not easier to use, not more functional, not even better looking. So why change it? What's the point? To frustrate users?

To allow users to grow, learn and adapt... 😖

Don't you remember them telling us about the new listing tool when they released it a year or two ago?

Have a great day.

I have been on eBay many, many years and these ridiculous changes and "improvements" have only frustrated me and made my work on eBay more difficult and not made me "grow, learn, and adapt". But to each its own.

Ditto to "frustrated". But some truth to the "adapt" part.  😐

I hear it was to better accommodate smart phone users.  I don't even try to understand their reasoning. The new listing tool is here and it is not going away. I don't even think about it anymore while using it. The tool is still a little quirky, but usable.

The new tool is to provide a consistent listing experience for mobile and web applications.  It could be done a lot better (I list on two mostly mobile sites and they managed to mature their mobile app to a web app without changing much of anything) but eBay is genius at making things too complicated.  It took about 4-5 listings for me to get used to it. There are some glitches, some ironed out, some not.

If there is one thing we all have learned in the eBay selling world, it is:

  • Everything is going to change at some point in time.
  • Many times it will not make any sense .
  • Many times it will make listing more cumbersome, tedious, time consuming...etc...
  • Learn to adapt or quit.

Now I can't remember what eBay did over a year ago but there were quite a few sellers who actually left.  I was surprised.  Most of us vent and weep and many threaten to leave but learn to somehow live with their changes but there was an exodus and i was very surprised.

Not to say that the exodus mattered to eBay...i doubt that it did.  As others have said in these forums, when one of us leaves, there are 10 more to take our place...we will see if this still holds true...only time can really tell...and it's not talkin' 😋

More like : growl, learn new curse words, and adapt to the evidence of corporate disdain ....

and then bail at the best opportunity when the changes get too egregious.

Actually the exodus did matter to eBay - their stock price is half what it was last year. The new listing tool is inspiring another mass exodus. And there are not 10 more to take the place of 1 who leaves. The number of sellers, number of listings, and number of active buyers on eBay are all going down. Every time eBay forces another unnecessary and unwarranted change on their sellers, they drive more sellers away, reducing the variety and quality of items available on their site, which in turn drives buyers to other platforms such as Amazon, Facebook and Whatnot. Unfortunately, eBay management seems inept and incapable of responding to changes in the online marketplace. A wise management team would be listening to what their independent sellers are saying, rather than forcing everyone to adapt to their poor decision-making.

A lot of us have been saying it for years.  eBay has a whole army of beta testers who'd work for free.  The sellers.   Thousands of experts on using the platform.  The sellers.  Who don't they listen to?  You guessed it.

Eventually the sellers were bound to get the message, and word got around.  Have the C-suite suits learned their lesson yet? Doubtful.

@goldengizmo

This post of mine seems to be eBay's attitude which is proven by their behavior of not listening or caring of what their sellers want/need/value.

I haven't bothered to list very much since they changed our all selling PAGE a few years back.  Sellers screamed bloody hell over it but did they listen?  Nope.  They just kept on rollin.'  I only list here & there to keep my status active as I do not want to deal with the hassle of a "new seller" status.  You see, after they changed the all selling page, it suddenly became not so fun to list here.  I used to enjoy listing and watching how things would unfold but when they made turned our one all selling page into several different section pageS that you had to CLICK onto each section to see what we used to see on one page, it suddenly became no fun so I turned my attention elsewhere and I am doing much better...so thank you eBay I guess...

...oh well...
