So on January 8, I sold a German States coin, buyer paid $63.99.
Showed delivered on January 22, and buyer claims German Customs sent it back about a week later, he said he didn't know why, and filed a return request (which he lost because nothing was tracking as coming back). I never heard from the buyer again, even though I tried to reach out to him to resolve this (since I don't know what's happening, I'm going by what he says, but I told him I will not refund until I get the coin back).
On July 11 the coin was delivered to my house. According to the returned sticker it was "unclaimed". There was another sticker in German (it's not with me now, but I intend to have it translated because I want to know if it has something to do with duties/taxes which is why I suspected he didn't go and get his parcel, and I don't know why it showed delivered. There was no movement on tracking for weeks after that).
I'm going to refund the buyer, but more than 180 days have passed, so I'm going to have to just send him his refund.
For the interesting part, it was my courier who received the item back in Niagara (their processing of returns is 3-4 weeks to find out who I am and notify me). They billed me $5.00 for bringing it back into Canada. Then I had two choices, drive 120 miles and go and get it (that's each way), or pay $10 in shipping to have it sent back.
To be honest, I thought it was going to be the coin that "Egypt one pound coin should weigh one pound of silver" had claimed to send back to Niagara, and I figured it got here fast. I wanted to see if the coin really did come back. Well, for a $64 coin, I guess I would also pay $15 to get it back and resell it.
Cheers, C.

I checked 4 different sites.
I see nothing about coins being restricted.
Only if it were counterfeit, which I know does not apply.
Or cash over 10,000 euros.

My bets are because of the value, he had to pay VAT or something like that, and he didn't want to do that, so he let them send it back. However it took a really long time for it to be sent back (and come back). I send coins to Germany often, no problems. In any event, the package was not opened or searched by customs, so they have no way of knowing exactly what it is, just that it's a metal disc on an Xray.
Cheers, C.
