I just read the post "I am struggling as a new seller. Could you review my listings and let me know what I could do better" and you all are awesome. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with that poster and with all of us "lurkers." I'm several years into selling now, very low volume, with a given inventory of my late step father's surplus from his laboratory. I've come to read these boards for tips many times but never thought to directly ask for help like the "struggling new seller" did. Smart move for the new seller. Until now, I've been content to list items as time permits and if/when they sell is fine. I'm getting tired of my slow clean out of our family laboratory and want to move things along if I can. I have about 100 listings right now but could list another 1,000 unique-ish items if I had the time/thought they might sell faster than what I'm doing now. Just read a post that noted that "long tail" items will make your account look bad and decrease your visibility. I think that may be a big problem for me. If anyone is so inclined, I am very open to feedback to improve the visibility/sales of my listings. Thank you in advance for your generosity sharing your time and knowledge. And as far as diversifying onto other platforms... that is great advice and I have done so with my general items where I can (mostly facebook marketplace and Craig's list with good success) but for laboratory items the options are limited and mostly only for the big ticket equipment. For what it's worth, I've unscientifically switched back and forth from auctions to BINs and most recently to "Best Offers." I've also switched shipping methods around too. Auctions are not usually good for other labs when they are buying supplies from me but other than that I haven't found the "secret sauce." Even very aggressive pricing doesn't seem to move my items quickly. Again, thank you for your advice!
