Hello, this is a semi-urgent request. I recently sold a signed trading card and it went through the authentication process scam. However the authenticators damaged the card and the buyer now wants a return. The buyer is on record saying I did nothing wrong and that the item was damaged either by the postal service or the authenticator. Is there anything I can do to somehow salvage this situation? It is literally impossible to contact anyone in Ebay.

What will happen if my item is damaged or lost in transit when the authenticator ships it to the buyer?
In the unlikely event your item is lost in transit, the buyer can file a case and eBay will investigate. In the unlikely event your item is damaged, the buyer can open a return with “arrived damaged” as the return reason, and after careful review, eBay will refund the buyer as appropriate.

I'd guess that it would be best to approve the Return request. You won't have to refund until your card is returned to you.
At that point, you might have to appeal the action... laying the damage at the Authenticator's feet.
If you come to that bridge, reach out to eBay using facebook. The C/S there can offer much better service. Good luck.
