Help for a new seller

Greetings from Greece!

We as a business want to sell on Ebay, but like Amazon, when we tried to learn how much it would cost us, a ton of pages, numbers and words came spreading all over the place.

What we get is:

we pay insertion fee and final value fee.

Is there a shipping fee? Is there a Paypal fee? Is there a referral fee?

If yes, how much?

For example, in Amazon the referral fee for Grocery is 15%.

How much is the insertion fee? or better else, where can i find all the info I need together, and not spread all over the place?

Seriously though, Amazon and Ebay do their best for people not to sell on them.

Final Value Fees are charged on the total payment by the buyer (including shipping if it's an extra charge).

Basic fees on .com are 10%

Small accounts get 50 free insertions per month, you pay listing fees if you need more.

PayPal also charge a fee, for US sellers it 2.9% + 30 cents for domestic sales, higher percentage rates apply to international transactions.

The only other fees are for optional listing upgrades, you should probably avoid these as they are not worth much.

Fees for Stores are different (lower) and vary by Category, Store Subscribers get more included listings which vary by Store level. (PayPal fees are the same)

See this link for basic fees:

This link for Store fees:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-fees/store-fees?id=4122

As a new seller it's not likely you would need a Store immediately unless you are selling in one of the Categories with low percentages (mostly electronics).

Note that as a new seller you will have limits on how many items you can list and the total value of those listings. You can apply for an increase every 30 days.

As a new seller you may be subject to payment holds of up to 21 days, see the following page for details. Payment holds generally go away after 90 days AND 25 successful sales.

slippinjimmy made an excellent post that outlines pretty much all selling on Ebay entails. In the future we will be switching over from exclusively paypal to another payment processor called Ayden which is in a slow rollout on the site now. We've been told that fees should decrease as if a customer uses their credit card - we will not be paying the paypal 30 cent transaction fee and will receive a lower % fee for each transaction. This is only on the payment end. Ebay will still charge their 10% and that includes 10% on the shipping cost.

Those are 2 great links that will tell a new seller just about everything he/she needs to know.  Thanks, @castlemagicmemories.  I'm going to send them to someone who asked me the other day if I could find them.
