Having trouble with ebay's speed and searches. Amazon fine. Also, other selling sites really good. Have been having a lot of trouble with ebay. Also, noticed other sites are listing ten times the items than ebay in collectible market. Is ebay phasing out collectibles? Anybody else having trouble?

Whenever anything like that happens to anything I'm trying to operate, I always think "yup.. mice in the engine." because years ago I lived in a big wilderness area, and one day when I started my old car, there was a weird popping-pinging noise coming from under the hood. Some mouse (or perhaps a chipmunk) had started storing hickery nuts in the engine, and somehow they kept being pinged up against the underside of the hood. ??? Weird.

Well, in the past few years ebay has loaded down with advertisments, ( and improvements )
It seems to take twice as long to load a page these days, same with search.
seems we wait for the ads to load first, super slow.

I'm not having that problem. Running Firefox on Windows 10. Cable internet connection on a desktop computer. Loads fast, and I don't get the ads that I read others complain about sometimes, so maybe they don't have a good ad blocker working on their machines?

Thing on the news last week, car wires now have a soy based covering.
mice love them, they chew all your engine wires up.
I had a mouse in my car, for a year, had to put rubber bands around my pant legs
She would stand on my seat back and look out the window.
She had a litter in the glove box,
Wife gave them all names, you leave Gert and her family alone.

1) I have no issues with eBay's speed.
2) You would have to be more specific about "collectibles".
I collect rock music. A searches for 'Roxy Music':
eBay returns 6,500.
Amazon returns 1,902 (375 of them are digital streaming)
Etsy returns 236.
Bonanza returns 161.
Ecrater returns 46.
Tias returns 2.
Ruby Lane returns 0.

Great glad everything works for you. I do not think Amazon and etsy are known for vinyl lp's. I think I was looking for a type of doll when I noticed many more on etsy. I might have been looking for a book title. If ebay works for you by all means stay with it. I have a lot of vinyls to sell so I imagine I will be staying with it also for awhile.

I didn't say that "everything works" for me.
You said in your initial post that other sites are listing 10 times the collectibles that eBay has, and you wondered whether eBay was "phasing out" collectibles.
I simply gave you an example of a category where eBay is clearly not phasing collectibles out, and where other sites don't seem to be touching eBay when it comes to listing volume.
And BTW, music collectibles does not just mean LPs.
eBay has a whole lot more than vinyl LPs for Roxy Music - they have posters, promotional items, photos, press kits, 8 tracks, reel to reel tapes, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, tee shirts, autographs, sheet music, books, magazines, tickets, backstage passes, programs, belt buckles, stickers, drum sticks, and stage worn clothing. Just to name a few.

Why are "rockstars" on here so unchilll. I was in a big hurry and trying to be brief.

Does ebay pay rock stars? Just wondering because every one of you I have come across in my journeys in both accounts has seemed like an advertisement for ebay. Excuse me if I am wrong. I have had books on ebay for months that sold on amazon in one day for one third more of the ebay price. I am not saying everything should be put on Amazon though.

Hahaha Mice and rats make great pets. My friend had a rat I gave to her named Ziggy. Ziggy lived to grow very large, took over the house and lived to be eight years old. Good luck with Gert . 😉😉😉😉😉😉

I think it's because most of the rockstars are old hands at eBay, many having been here from the early years, have build some pretty extensive and profitable businesses here over the years, and so LIKE eBay, because they know how to make it work for them. Being an eBay seller has helped many of them raise their families and pay their mortgages. They're successful sellers on eBay, so they're pretty PRO in their attitudes.
So many newbies come here with problems, and sometimes sellers who are fairly experienced, but showing up here on a non-selling account (so can't tell up front just how experienced they are here) but obviously they seem to be having a problem. So in trying to help out, advice a poster doesn't want to hear (often it's that they made a bad choice in dealing with their problem lol) anyway.. that advice can make them feel put-upon. Or they may feel they're being talked down to. Or their concern is being dismissed. Lots of things... but mostly rockstars and everyone on the discussion boards are interested in helping, not causing any embarassment or discomfort.
Most of us enjoy the give and take of discussion and reading so many different viewpoints on the subjects that pop up here. It's that *learning never stops* possibility where we get to try to view things from a different perspective than we've had, etc.
No, rockstars aren't paid by eBay, unless you count the incomes they make from being selling members here. And a whole ton of them have not only sold for years, but sell on several different online venues as well as often in shops out of their own hometowns, etc.
I hear you about books that will sit on eBay for ages and sell promptly on Amazon. And that works both ways, with eBay being the venue that beats out the Amazon sales on lots and lots of offerings! You just never know. Many selling members here have accounts and sell on both venues, so they soon get to know which places to focus which areas of merchandise they want to move currently.
Good luck to you in your business, wherever you enjoy a presence.
