Has the USPS North Houston sorting facility turned into a black hole (again)?

Since the holidays, I've noticed that shipments are moving very slowly in and out of the North Houston facility. Scans are taking longer than 24 hours. I have packages (presumably) sitting there with no scans for 2 days. Local PO says package volume has increased ... at least that's their excuse for not getting acceptance scans done at the station any more.

Anyone one else in the Houston area  having a similar experience?

Perhaps OP is trying to see if other people are having a similar issue in an effort to validate their concern before he/she files a complaint with USPS...

Has the USPS North Houston sorting facility turned into a black hole (again)?

I'm in Houston and the North Houston facility has been a black hole for at least a couple of years.  Whenever I see it come through on tracking I know it will be hung up there at least two days...

I don't think it has ever stopped being a black hole.  The last package I shipped  took three days to get out of Houston.  UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For some reason, I keep thinking the better approach would be to file a complaint with the Postmaster or Office of Postmaster of the United States.

My packages being sent to Houston usually "wobble" back and forth between the Houston & North Houston facilities. they generally take the circle route 2 - 4 times before being delivered. Not a new problem of course, this has been happening for a long time and it's replaced Jamaica NY or Bell CA asa the worst of the worst.

Of course I (almost) always get an Acceptance scan so other than the extra wait a buyer must endure it really means nothing.

Somehow I am thinking this is an issue to address with the USPS, not eBay.

Yes, I shipped an item on the 5th and it still has not shown it's reached Texas. Was supposed to be delivered by 01/09. Hope buyer is cool about it...

Oh yes, and my local post office won't scan acceptance now.  Somehow, my things arrive on time, but ebay doesn't think so.  Incoming is a nightmare, I have stopped checking because it's too hard on my heart! It is not just you and your packages, we are all having issues.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was in fact trying to find out if others in the area have noticed problems recently. My experience with my local PO and North Houston has been pretty good for about a year and a half. Suddenly it seems to be a mess. Wasn't sure whether I'm having a run of bad luck or it's systemic. Appreciate the validation!

Seems like I've been seeing that said here more often recently. I can't imagine why they won't do it (besides the fact that it's supposedly expected of them by the head office in Washington). Fortunately both my home PO and those in downtown Chicago do it as a matter of routine. Well, the Chicago ones are kind of unreliable when it comes to packages put in a drop box, presumably because whoever's emptying the box has either forgotten their scanner or misplaced it and doesn't know where it is (apparently there's a communal handheld scanner behind the front counter for use by all), but when packages are brought to the counter, scans are done promptly at the POS terminal and I'm on my way.

In fact, last week I was in line with a package behind a woman carrying a stuffed shopping bag, which I slowly came to realize was not full of shopping but packages to mail. Oh, no... looked to be about seven packages in there... only one desk clerk working at the moment... but I could see an on-line eBay shipping label on the top package, so if the others have their labels as well, then maybe this won't be so bad... I knew the USPS clerk, and she was one of the unflappable ones who sit on an elevated swivel chair behind the counter and have everything within reach...

Finally the woman's turn came up at the counter, she plonked her shopping bag up there, and started lifting out packages. The clerk took them in stride... *beep*, next... *beep*, next... *beep*, next... it was a total breeze. It took the woman longer to lift each package out of her shopping bag than it took the clerk to do the Acceptance scan. I mentally counted off seven beeps, watching the clock on the back wall, and the woman was done, with receipt in hand, in roughly 70 seconds. I had mine Accepted in less than 10.

Bottom line: I have no idea why some offices are so dead-set against scanning packages. What are they doing with all those seconds they're saving?

They picked a great time to raise there prices.. right when everything is delayed. why am i bothering to even ship or buy items that are expedited. when they dont get there or to me anywhere near the 3 or 4 days . and ebay has the 'guaranteed in 3 days' all over my auctios. ugh...this goes for almost all my packages in the last 2 weeks. wether im receiving or sending. and yah, i never had problems with either before. my mail now comes at 2pm, when it use to arrive at 10:30. should be reimbursed for this somehow from usps. not fair to pay so much for priority for nothing.
