Has Webinterpret improved?

For the last year or so I have been getting messages from eBay asking me to consider using their partner Webinterpret to post my listings on five or six foreign eBay sites with no additional listing fees.

I had a horrible experience with Webinterpret when I tried them about four years ago.  At that time I had to pay one listing fee per item per country.   In two months I think Webinterpret brought me four international sales (one of which resulted in a return) and 300 listing fees  The "interpretations" were worse than what I could have done with Google Translate, and customer service was almost unresponsive.  It took me several attempts and one month before they finally closed my account.

A year ago when I saw my first "no additional listing fees" message I called eBay customer service.  I was fortunated enough to have my call answered by a representative who was candid enough to tell me immediately that eBay had been getting lots of complaints about Webinterpret and that he personally would recommend that I continue to avoid them.

Has the situation changed for the better in the last year?

Nope. They are like a cult... easy to get in, super tough to get out.

That CS agent did you a huge favor and should get a promotion for what he did for you.

No, they have not improved. I tried after their recent promotions and using the program didn't result in any sales AND caused a huge drop in all of my sales.

I've heard or read nothing to indicate that. I suspect that eBay would have dumped them long ago, but for some reason may be contractually obligated to keep them around.

As someone who routinely sells worldwide anyway without their purported assistance, I'm not sure what problem Webinterpret is supposed to be solving here.

The "how much more money can we make sellers bleed" problem.
