Handling Time, Official Business Days: Weekends, Holidays and Time Away

I'm new to selling, and need some clarity for handling time.

1. Does eBay have official non-business days that don't count for handling time, or do my shipping policies really set my own schedule? If I change my shipping policies so I work Monday-Friday and don't offer same day dispatch, then will handling time not include weekends or the same day ordered?

2. For Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, what exact days are considered holidays or don't count as handling time? Is there a page where this is stated?

3. Let's say I am out of town from the Thursday before Thanksgiving and return on Thanksgiving day. If I schedule my time away starting Tuesday and someone pays for an order late Monday night, the Monday doesn't count as a handling day since I don't offer same day dispatch, correct?

I hope this makes sense and thank you so much!

Handling Time, Official Business Days: Weekends, Holidays and Time Away

1) If you change shipping to Monday-Friday only (weekends are not counted as handling time).    Example, if you have 1-handling time and sold item on Friday then you would ship on Monday.

2)  EBAY will automatically extend your handling time by 1 day if it falls on official holiday.

3) If customer makes purchase Monday night and you offer 1-day shipping (you must ship by Tuesday).

If you don't feel you can handle 1-day shipping then it is better to change your policy to allow  yourself extra time.   EBAY will give you a "defect" on your account if you don't ship on time and provide tracking#.

Shipping/Handling time is counted by days, Saturday, Sunday and Federal Holidays are not counted.

Handling time excludes Saturdays, Sundays, and 11 federal holidays (which are the same as the days when the Post Office is closed). If you have 1-day handling, then you are expected to ship on the next business day.  For instance if  buyer pays on Friday, then you are expected to ship on Monday, unless Monday is a federal holiday.

Only the actual holiday counts as a non-business day. For instance, the day after Thanksgiving is treated as a regular business day.

Time Away does not factor-in your handling time. It only looks at the date of the transaction. If a buyer purchases an item on the day before your Time Away starts, then you are still expected to ship within your stated handling time. For instance, if your buyer purchases an item on Monday and your Time Away starts on Tuesday, you are still expected to ship that item within your stated handling time (which would be on Tuesday if you have 1-day handling).
