Hi sold an item as a buy it now, the buyer messaged me and said they would collect the next day. The buyer has paid for the item but I have been let down now three times with them arranging pick up and not turning up. This has never happened to me before and frustrating when you are having to stay in waiting for someone to turn up. Advice please of where to go now???

Apparently the buyer has no integrity.
Since they paid I wouldn't worry too much, even though their lack of integrity and communication is a PITA. Just arrange their pick-up at your convienience, not theirs, since they have shown that their word is worthless. They will eventually show up since they paid.

Advice?
For local pick up options, it's ALWAYS cash in hand, upon delivery. IF any form of electronic payment IS made, and, if by chance you go through with the sale and deliver the item face to face, you open yourself up to an INR claim, since you could not prove delivery to ebays liking. Cash in hand.
Since your buyer has paid, failing to meet for pick up could just be a fluke. Yes, the buyer can file an INR, but nothing really gained. They just get their $$$ back, and you get to waste your time.
For local pick up, would do the following:
-send invoice with total due, instructing buyer cash in hand for item at pick up place.
-DO NOT mark item as paid.
-DO NOT mark item as shipped.
Just leave eveything in item unchecked, as if the sale never took place. If no payment, no need to ship. Buyer may get paying reminders, easily deleted. After a few days, delete the item from your sold list.
This is NOT about getting around ebay fees! ebay shot themselves in the foot with the local pick up option, and has lots of loopholes to fix in their programming associated with this type of transaction. Thus, it is incumbent upon every seller using the local pick up option to do whatever they can to protect themselves 'cuz ebay won't, yet.
