I am ready to leave ebay because of the problem with returns lately. Buyers are making false claims about my product. They claim things don't work when they do and not as described when they are. Ebay always takes the buyers side and I am stuck with extra costs. I also provide excellent packing. I have been selling on eBay for 15 years and it has never been as bad as it is now. Are there any other venues that stick by the seller. Ebay certainly doesn't. I wouldn't mind taking things back if I could inflict return fees or if I had the chance to fix any issue with the products. This is a case of buyers lying when they probably just changed their mind. A 20% restocking fee would end this issue or the seller offering to replace the item. Ebay is just scared of losing buyers, but without sellers they would be in serious trouble.

How often has this been happening for you? 1 item out of 10? 20?

I'm sorry you are feeling so frustrated. Try not to take this stuff personally and it will likely be easier on you. I know it is annoying, but try not to let this get under your skin so much. It is just how selling on the internet goes. It is absolutely not just on the Ebay site.
As you know Ebay made charging restocking fees against the rules many years ago. So it is highly unlikely it will ever be back.
I hope things get better for you.

I believe you when you say you feel buyers are making false claims, as I have no other knowledge of your situation.
But I will say that, as a buyer here, I'm batting 50% on satisfaction lately and feel that eBay's fear of losing customers is justified.
Out of my last eight purchases, I have returned four as INAD:
1. Book described as Good arrived with worm holes
2. Shoes described as New with tags arrived with no tags
3. Shirt described as one color (stock photos only) arrived in the wrong color
4. NIB Gadget arrived without all necessary parts referenced in the Instructions
If I didn't know my way around eBay, I'd be very skittish by now.

Let me know if you need ANY help with those issues you describe or any other one that you may come across.

Thanks so much for that offer -- really appreciate that.
For these, I have fortunately been refunded on all of them.

I also hate buyers who lie.
I think ebay should make lying against the rules.

Thanks for your replies. I can only hope ebay rules in my favor. The pictures I put in the claim clearly prove my case. 100% feedback should mean something.

Ebay responded positivly to help resolve this case. Let's hope they do the right thing.

What does that mean? What did they say or do?

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I can almost guarantee you they WILL NOT find in your favor. I hope they do but I honestly think they wont.

It's all part of the business. Ebay allows a 30 day money back guarantee so if a buyer claims the item doesn't work they will be allowed to return it which then you would need to give a full refund. It's all part of terms and conditions. The As-Is no returns or refunds no longer exist. You can try selling locally but you will not get the same value as you would on Ebay.

I would NEVER buy a book described as Good on any internet site. That is a condition when properly used does not meet my requirements for a reading copy, let alone a keeper. And it is often indistinguishable from a book described as poor.
Not trying to criticize you, but you may have expectations which are too high. I am loath to buy books graded as Very Good. And that is even through I list as Very Good and usually the books I grade at that level would be overgraded by others to Like New.
There was a time when I recommended assuming a book was at least one grade below what the seller claimed it to be on any online site, unless you knew the seller. Now I usually shut up because so many books are in oversupply.

They didn't do anything yet.
