Getting blamed for scammers trying to scam me

After recently listing some furniture i’ve received multiple, seemingly automated requests to contact outside of eBay. I then added added a note to only contact me through eBay and pay via PayPal. The scammers seemed to have stopped but eBay sends me messages to stop making outside contacts - which I haven’t. How am I getting scolded/threatened by eBay for what scammers are doing beyond my control?

Ebay increased the bots' sensitivity to info such as your buyer requesting to deal off ebay.  Buyers are not supposed to message about that, and it says in at least three places on the message form that contact info is not allowed in messages.

When you get a message like that, both parties get a warning message, advising you that this is against policy.  It cannot be removed, and it stays on your record so that they know that you have been informed as to policy if somehow you were unaware of it.

If the situation continues, you can get suspensions of varying degrees, three days, 7 days, a month.  You can be banned permanently at some point.

If you get one of those messages, reply back that you only sell and communicate ON ebay.  That way, if need be, CS can see what your intentions were/are.

Telling someone to pay through Pay Pal, sounds like you are trying to get them to pay outside of Ebay.

Tell them they need to pay through the Ebay listing.

Have a great day.
