Getting a damage claim refund from UPS

To anyone who has filed a damage claim with UPS.... how does this system work? I filed a claim with a live UPS rep and it was approved, but they said that since Ebay was technically the shipper(purchased a label through Ebay like always), The refund would go back to Ebay. I called ebay to confirm this and they said that yes, I should see the refund in my seller account at some point after they get the money. Is this how it always works with claims and does UPS always have things setup easily recognize and send Ebay the money? And likewise, is Ebay's system setup to recognize claim funds coming to them from carriers and put the money in seller's accounts without a hitch?

Getting a damage claim refund from UPS

I am not familiar with how UPS works but I know this is not how USPS works. I just filed a claim for a lost package and USPS sent me the check directly. Of course I purchased the label off Pirate Ship but in essence the same scenario. Even if eBay gets the money how are they going to know what it is for or who the funds go to?

It is hit and miss whether the CS rep you talked to told you the truth or simply told you what you wanted to hear to get you off the phone. Their reputation is less than stellar these days.

There is a very specific process explained in the ebay help pages on how to file a UPS claim to ensure the payment goes directly to you:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipcover/shipping-insurance-shipcover?id=4643

If you didn't use that process you will most likely have to follow up with ebay Customer support and press them to refund you.
