GTC

Hopefully you are reading all the sellers disappointed in ebay. The GTC is being forced on the sellers and this should be a choice. You are turning into a dictatorship with all your demands. You should probably look back to your days when you had a good idea and people were excited to list items and make a little money for themselves and share their profits with ebay. They are the ones that have made you millions of dollars. I believe you are going to lose many sellers who have relied on ebay to make ends meet. Shame on you for spoiling it for the ones who need it the most. I am elderly and have been supplementing my meager Social Security to pay some of my bills. Why are you making it impossible for us old folks. I will most likely close my store. You are failing as a family run business that can be done from the home. Hope you can live with yourselves making these decisions without asking the people who make money for you.

OP, I understand how you feel and I'm sorry this is disturbing you.  You might want to read more about this, as the information on how to handle this would help you cope.

I feel for you, I am retired also and supplementing income.  Heck, I like the REALLY old days when everything was auction and you had to try and beat someone out at the last second to buy something.  Or the item your selling would jump up like crazy in the last few seconds.  That was freaking fun.  And you met the most interesting people overseas.  We would end up chatting away after the sale.  But this is a business, not entertainment, so I get it.  I don't have to like it though.  The GTC is not set up for small sellers, but they really don't want us anyway.

Another retiree chiming in.

I have used GTC by choice for many years. I switched to 30 day listings when other members claimed that it increased their sales.

No difference for mine, so I switched back.

I do monitor all my about to close listings and remove to my Unsold List any that are getting lots of views but no sales.  I do this daily, so it's pretty much the same as a 30 day listing.

Another poster has suggested the way to have "control" over Fixed Price listings is to list as a ten day  Auction with Buy It Now.

You theoretically get the Newly Listed/ About to Close bump in Search but don't have to worry about automatic relisting.

A Basic Store gives you 250 "free" auction listings monthly plus 250 "free" fixed price listings.

I use the quote marks on "free" because they are really reduced cost. If you used all your potential listings, each would cost you a nickel.

Don't do this if you subscribe to a STORE, as you will be charged for the Buy It Now option on auctions, and you will also be charged if you schedule the listings to start at a future time/date.
