So I have read several reports that eBay's Last Quarterly Earnings are down.
You think it has anything to do with GTC?

No
Buyers generate the revenue for eBa & eBay sellers. GTC has no effect on buyers.

My sales are down 50% since they implemented that bogus policy along with others, Now instead of having 1,040 listings I only keep about 900 so not to go over and be hit with those TRICKY fees. How does that help either of us.
Does not look like I will be 1099'd this year YEA ! What a blessing that this is not the only selling platform out there.
They will Not keep us from Making Money just Making them Money !!
Good Luck, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

There is SO much wrong here and so far no effort on Ebay's part to fix any of it.If there are no changes after the first of the year things will get worse. I just do not get it!

For which quarter, and by which measure of earnings?

All my listings are GTC so I figured it would have no effect, but my sales are markedly down since GTC, and I know there are certainly other issues.
But a lot of sellers are also buyers and I believe it really ticked a lot of people off and they left.

If I blamed anything I would blame site infrastructure problems/search. For instance, my sales cratered after the October item specifics debacle, and usually I have very steady sales (GTC made no difference but I've been 30-day for quite a while and sell stuff that people just purchase if they want it). I struggled for three weeks with trying to update everything (I had about 450-500 listings then), finding that IS's were lost again, and many were simply missing or made no sense, updating yet again, etc. etc. After weeks when eBay made some progress fixing this, my fixing the rest yet again, sales started back up again. It's a very discrete temporal event - I could link it by dates.

In my opinion that is the biggest mistake that ebay has ever made, and there are plenty to choose from over my 18 years here. Yes we need buyers, but they started attracting the wrong kind of buyers, and didn't care what happened to good sellers. They failed to realize that those sellers were also buyers. 50% of online shoppers go to one website. I never even think to go on that website to look for things because I am on ebay for hours each day. If I need something I just type it into the search bar. I buy business related items, shipping supplies, items for resale, personal items, gifts, etc. I have the ebay app on my phone, I use ebay bucks, I use the money in my Pay Pal account, I have an ebay credit card. If I am no longer a seller at some point I wouldn't have all of that, and if I was left with a bad taste in my mouth I would make it a point not to come back. Yet for years they haven't cared about what the sellers thought, and that has hurt them.

I don't think it was GTC that started many sellers on a downward spiral. I think that while GTC garnered all the attention - eBay made a number of algorithm changes to search at the same time. I also think that promoted listings (and having them appear on other sellers' listings) had more of a detrimental effect on many small sellers than GTC - even for those that felt compelled to pay the additional fee.

The GTC for all was not a mistake, they have created a very useful and simple tool, designed to continuously charge and collect listing fees on every item every month, big and small, new or old, all trapped in the big GTC Algo fee collection machine.
That's it.
