GSP buyer wants to return an item because it was damaged

And that happened on GSP watch, these were 5" small plates, and GSP repacked them goofy, I guess. Now buyer files a return case, ebay says I have to respond to case by October 13, but also included this message in the return case

So now I can't respond to case prior to the 13th, which is the deadline to respond., that is some customer service

@ten_o_nine  You still need to respond to the case now or you automatically lose. However, I'm reading this as if you feel the damage was done after GSP had the item, then you need to come back to the case after the 13th to appeal. In other words, the appeal is between you and eBay and won't involve the buyer, so you still need to refund the buyer, or send money to have them ship the unbroken plates back to you. You deal with eBay after the 13th. Best of luck to you....

No, that's not true at all. I dealt with many GSP cases, and I know how to handle it. I was just wondering why I have to respond to the case when I can only escalate on the 13th, why can't I escalate now? That's the question.

You should contact ebay now and ask specifically to speak with the Global Shipping Team.

Well, I'd be scared to death to not go ahead and respond. "By October 13" and "Wait until October 13" are different animals.
