Fraudulent message asking to change shipping address

I received a message from adwoodr-0 for a sold Gold Coin. The message requested that I ship to a different address as "will be staying with my parents for a couple weeks". This WAS THROUGH EBAY'S MESSAGES AND SHOWED THE SOLD ITEM AND PHOTO OF THE COIN!! I contacted the buyer as the name didn't match, and it was not the buyer.

How can Ebay's system allow this to happen internally?? Watch out for adwood!!!

This is a HUGE glitch in Ebay's message system that allows someone full access to respond to a SOLD item after the auction that is not the buyer! We are talking about $2700.00

How can Ebay's system allow this to happen internally?

If you are asking how the eBay system could allow someone to send a message to a seller, the answer to that should be obvious. eBay encourages communication.

Someone sent you a message through the eBay system. You wisely checked this person's claim against information that was easily available to you and determined it was not a legitimate claim.

Congratulations for using common sense and avoiding an obvious scam.

Everyone can see all Sold listings. Any image can be copied. Every listing has a "Contact seller" link at the top. This is not a flaw in the system; it's how eBay is set up.  Congratulations on seeing through this scammer's strategy.

two points for using your head

I can send you a message about the coin just like anyone can. contact seller is under your name

no matter what happens or is said in a message

you need to pay attention to the seller hub "Awaiting shipment"

trixters cant mess around with seller hub and its not going to be hacked

please be on the lookout for more of this

always use seller hub for shipping no matter what the message says

messages have no bearing on the MBG at all. its just hearsay and they can be safely ignored most of the time

@millenials

Congrats on your sale and good call on the scammer.  So many here do not recognize these types of scams and wind up losing the item and the money.  Make sure you insure this coin when you ship it and add a tracking number to cover all your bases.

Wishing you more successful sales in the future.

 and it was not the buyer.

@millenials

Good for you not falling for this.  You can now report the "change of address scammer" directly from the ACTION tab on the eBay message menu bar.  Do it!!!!

All I can say is that you got stones of steel to sell a $2700.00 coin on Ebay.

And don't forget signature confirmation!

You got that right! If they ship, they better insure, priority mail, request signature, check buyers' status, location / google map, and all feedback.

I would also ship in a decent size package, so it does not get lost and even take photos during the packing process. Not that is a guarantee, but you have a record of the process, packing material, and the box it was shipped in just in case if an issue.
