I found a listing where someone is selling something that does not belong to them. As a matter of fact it's mine! Even saying it's mine is not true...it's from the National Archives! Considering the current climate of government owned documents, how can I/us/we get this seller to take the item down and not do it again?
Thanks in advance for your help.

First you will need to prove your claim, can you do that?
I would be advising the party who actually does hold copyright/ownership and advising them of the situation, and let them deal with it.
eBay will not simply remove an item because an individual reports it.

Is this a roundabout way of saying that it's "yours" because you're a taxpayer, or...?
What exactly is the item?

You're not suggesting that any missing top secret documents are now being sold on eBay --
Are You ?!?!?!?
Can you tell us the item number? I think a few of us would like to take a look as well.
Because I think that is worthy of being reported to eBay.
And possibly law enforcement in the seller's city and state.
And possibly the FBI . . . . .

Following THIS for sure, LOL.

Now that you've made this intriguing statement, how about returning and following up with the facts?
And you can begin with the item number.

Sounds like a joke thread to me. The chances of hearing back from the OP are probably nil. I actually know somebody that would likely be dumb enough to sell something like this on eBay, though.

If this is not a joke thread (although I suspect it is), read this:
"Occasionally, a document in private hands actually belongs in a government archives. If it is a Federal, congressional, or presidential record, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) may be interested in recovering the document. Learn more about missing or stolen documents. NARA also has tips online for identifying historical U.S. government documents.
"If you know of a document that you believe is a Federal record and belongs to the National Archives you can also contact us via e-mail at MissingDocuments@nara.gov.
