Another thing I've noticed and have seem on ebay. I've seen receivers for different fire arms. Ebay has warned, flagged and finally restricted my account recently for listing a " dangerous " switchblade, but allow others to sell because they are super stars on ebay. Guess what ebay, you are responsible and whoever you hire to remove restricted items doesn't do their job. Yes, I have seen several receivers to fire arms that a 16 year old kid can buy without background check or even a criminal who aren't allowed to even own a firearm.
But you restricted my account over an antique knife???
I can assure you, I have the item numbers of what I'm talking about and I could care less if you ban me permanently. I am sick of the favoritism I've witnessed on here. I'm sure the ATF, and other agencies are going to question whoever is responsible for allowing what I've seen on here. You've angered the wrong person.

Your account was restricted because you repeatedly relisted an item after eBay told you not to. [It generally takes at least 3 warnings before you receive a restriction.
You will always see prohibited items listed on eBay ... only because the bots cannot catch all of them before the listings become active. eBay relies on reports of members to remove the rest.
As a rule of thumb, NEVER relist an item that eBay has removed ... even if you are certain it was removed by mistake. You are now on eBay's radar and future listings of the item WILL be caught by bots quickly. You'll start receiving penalties, which will become increasingly severe until you’re permanently suspended.
Even if it later appears you have cleared up the problem with a CS rep ... or with a supervisor ... the bot still has the listing on its radar. Your listings will continue to be removed. List your item somewhere else.
And please feel free to report those listings that you're concerned a 16-year-old might buy illegally. We are all concerned about safety ... whether or not the items are banned on eBay.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I understand what you are saying. But I did report the same thing. I only did to see if they would remove. This person had several obvious switchblades listed. All week it was still up . When I called to ask why this seller was allowed I was told because they have a higher rate of selling. In other words they make ebay more money than I do. So, they knowingly allowed a federal law to be broken but punished me. Everyday I see things on here I know aren't allowed and that are flat out illegal but I'm not being paid to look for these listing, others are. I can't sell or break the law but he can because he's a big ebay seller. That's the way I took the phone conversation I just had. But whatever maybe
ebay will treat everyone the same when a young kid find the part he needs to complete his AR-15 or other weapon he can't get because there's no security here obviously. Happy Thanksgiving to you also.

eBay reps are known to say completely outrageous things ... many of which simply aren't true. That is the reason why many of us members volunteer answering questions about eBay. It's not that we love eBay so much ... but rather because we know that eBay CS is so awful, and we want to help other members.
I don't believe eBay allows certain sellers to list banned items. Whoever said that was either B*Sing you because they didn't know the answer ... or is totally misinformed.
Certain sellers DO get privileges on eBay ... like lower fees, more prominence in listings, and things like that. Being allowed to list banned items is NOT one of the perks ... and I can understand your being upset if you were told that.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. Yes, I have had more than a few problems with the " help" some of them act like I'm wasting their time others I've heard laughing in background at me because they can't understand my frustration. Like I said, this listing was up for 7 days. I reported it for 5 days and it remained up and that was the reason I was told and yes this certain person has many sales, over a thousand but makes no sense. Abs I looked this law up. One said they are allowed and another Google answer said they have been federally banned since 1958. I personally don't see the difference if I pull out a 12 inch fixed blade knife compared to a 4 inch blade that pops out at push of button. Ebay needs to realize someone isn't going to waste hundreds of dollars on an old knife to commit a crime when they could do the same with any knife that sells for $5 .
I think I'm going to give ebay a break for awhile. Look through gun parts and if you know guns like I do you'll be very surprised at whats out there waiting to be bought. And no offense to some of the ebay phone workers but they should get people who understand what you are calling about.

As I explained on your other thread: There is no federal law against the ownership, possession, or carrying of switchblade knives. There is a federal law (1958) that regulates and restricts their manufacture and their transport in interstate commerce. It is the interstate commerce aspect that makes their sale on a platform like eBay problematic and accounts for their ban on the site.

There have been several bills to repeal the act. I do no tknow their status at the moment, but you should be able to find that.

Switchblades are illegal in some states. http://weaponlaws.wikidot.com/us-switchblade-laws I'm sure this has something to do with it.

I posted about a year ago 4 Snack Time Cabbage Patch Dolls. These were the ones that were recalled due to the motorized jaws in the mouth that also ate fingers, hair. toes and the such. They were pulled in 3 days and I was a Top Rated Plus seller then. I also believe who ever told you that about bigger sellers was full of **bleep** and should not be answering phones. I am still a Top Seller and I would not even try to list the dolls a second time. Even if 100 other sellers are selling them. Good Luck

Oh, yes, that's certainly part of the reason for the eBay ban, but I was trying to address the "federal law" issue because it has been asserted incorrently that there is a federal law that bans owning ior possessing the knives. The federal law deals only with certain aspects of manufacture and transport in interstate commerce.
In fact, as I posed elsewhere, seven states and DC have a total ban on automatic knives. (I live in one of the states, Pennsylvania.) Another 15 states have various restrictions on them (blade length, age of owner, concealment, etc.) The other 28 states have no laws of any kind regarding them.

How do you know that is the reason eBay has not taken their listings down?
