First listing - Branded?

Hi All,

I have activated selling on my account. I am looking forward to sell health and beauty items such as balms, scrubs, moisturizers etc which are unique items produced in my country. I am bit confused to list it on ebay with its brand name since I have heard that selling branded items are prohibited on ebay. I checked VERO items but the brand name is not there. Further this product is being sold by some other sellers as well. Can you help on the followings?

1) Should I get a permission from E-bay to list this item. If it is so, how to do it?

2) Will my account get suspended if I listed this item?

You already asked this question on your first thread. You might want to go back and reread the answers you received on that thread.

First listing - Branded?

A brand name item is allowed as long as the item isn't counterfeit.

First listing - Branded?

Hi @eleanor*rigby

This is totally different to my first thread.

Let me be crystal clear.

Should I list the item with it's brand name?

or as unbranded?

No it's not. Certain goods are prohibited to sell on ebay. Check VERO items

What are these brand names you speak of?

Perhaps name us a few...

The VeRO program is a way for manufacturers to prevent counterfeits of their items from being sold.

As long as the items are authentic, they are not prohibited. Manufacturers are not supposed to use VeRO to prevent authentic items from being sold, no matter what brand they are. They just have to be real.

Go to whatever page it's on now  and  find Site Map.  Search A to Z for VERO and read it.  Twice couldn't hurt.

Site Map should be on the bottom of every single page, eBay.

even easier.  Go to Contact Us at the bottom right and in the box enter VERO.  READ UP, IT'S IMPORTANT.

Well I will say it again, but in greater detail to clarify. Legally purchased authentic  named brand items are allowed to be sold.  There are a few VeRO members like Snap-on  that won't allow their Blue Point tools to be sold by anyone except an authorized distributor, but since you will be selling cosmetics I didn't think it applies to you.

The problem I think you might run into is if you are buying your products from China they could be counterfeit.

Thank you,,,,,it really irritates me when Sri Lankans of all people tell  me I am wrong.

I'm wondering if the OP knows so much about VeRO and selling  name brands then why did they ask the question???

Hi. I am not buying from china and the product is not counterfeit. I buy it directly from the original store which is located at Sri Lanka. I thought that we are not authorized to sell a product on ebay with the brand name, if it is not our own product.

Can you explain it to me?

Just because others are selling it does not mean it can or should be sold.

The minimal information you have shared in both threads makes it impossible to truly answer.

My guess (and it is just a guess as we would need better details) is it is not an authorized use of the brand.

Further, it you think there is some "advantage" a SL seller woukd have over  US brand that we can all easily obtain, it is doubtful.

In the U.S. cosmetics, creams, etc are heavily regulated.  China, doubtful.

To answer your questions- hard pass/ you will be suspended if you list/sell items that are inferior, counterfeit, etc.

Good luck.  Be safe.
