Fine example of how ebay works

A friend of mine made a Donald Trump Voodoo Doll and listed it on ebay.  She hand painted it and has NOT sold one yet on ebay.

So why does she have 30 product reviews on the listing?  Listing number 391944365400

The reviews are coming from an item that the seller probably had made in China in mass quantites to sell.  It is not handcrafted and they have sold a load of them.  My friend did not use a UPC number on her item nor has she submitted it to the catalog.

While she is thrilled that there are good product reviews on her item, they are NOT reviews for anything close to her item and could potentially lead to a snad or at the very least some grief from seller of the manufactured ones.

Why can't ebay just leave stuff alone?

why is EVERYTHING ebay's fault?

Because they are the ones who associated this seller's item with a Product Page and Product Reviews that aren't the seller's item?

Then there is the problem of trademark violation. Celebrities have the right to control their image for commercial purposes.

Don't be surprised if one of Trump's lawyers, or at the very least a Trump supporter tired of the constant Trump bashing, files a VERO complaint and has the listing taken down.

As a political figure, I would think that's going to be harder to make fly.  But good luck to Trump exercising that "right" with Chinese sellers on eBay!

guess i don't understand... if she hasn't sold any..why is there 30? reviews..so what is reviewed?

and maybe her's in hand made, but it isn't anything that wonderful..and says it is a kit?  which would imply you put it together...but really it is a doll with pind...and shipping seems a bit much ...for "standard"..  $6.05 seems like a flat rate envelope to me....

then maybe $20 is too much..really even a joke item that is suppose to resemble President Trump, maybe is a but much...and again nothing that makes it jump off the page....

but just my opinion here...why do you think EBAY is responsible for her not selling any....for a "joke" gift...there are others selling on ebay and probably that big site with the A beging the name.

why is EVERYTHING ebay's fault?

I never said anything about ebay being responsible for an item that was listed a few days ago, and in a category that doesn't get much attention, not selling.

The problem is that ebay put product reviews for an item that is not only NOT hers, but is nothing like hers.  That I can blame ebay for.

ebay has been all about product reviews and catalog - but should NEVER be put with handmade/used/vintage/antique items - but ebay refuses to see any logical reasoning for that.  The catalog would have been done a year ago (like A's) if ebay was not obsessed with including everything in the entire world, which ebay seems to consider theirs if it is listed anywhere on the net by a seller who has ever used ebay..

Making no comment myself on whether or not Voodoo works, if someone who BELIEVES that Voodoo works buys the doll and uses it, since the intent to harm is present, would that be considered assault and battery on the president?

I'm not sure if it would be considered assault and battery on the president, but clearly the intention is there if the person believes in it.

Pretty sad and pathetic really. IMO.

Why is it that when I search for books that I am told about " 5 new & refurbished from 14.99"?

Refurbished?

Because that's how 'another site' represents used items.

But I'm sure the 'other site' has filters in place to change the wording on something that isn't really(or can't be) refurbished.

Ebay hasn't come up with an original idea in many years - unless you count the ways sellers get the shaft.
