Final Value Fees

Is the 10% Final Value Fee based only on the item sold or does the fee also get applied to shipping charges.  I.e.:  I sell an item for $100.00 and shipping costs are $10.00.  Is "Final Value" based on $100.00 or $110.00?  Thx.

The Final Value of the order, no matter how it's broken down.

It’s applied to the total amount of the sale. The total amount of the sale is the price plus shipping cost. So if you sell an item for $100 + $10 the total amount I $110 so the FVF is 10% of $110.

It should also be made clear that the FVF on shipping applies to the lowest domestic shipping and handling charge that you offer.

So for instance, if you offer "free" domestic shipping, your FVF on an international sale would still be $0 even though you (presumably) charge more for international shipping.

Huh?  FVF is based on the total the buyer paid for the item + shipping.   Under your statement I could offer free local pickup and never pay the FVF on what i charge to ship FedEx or USPS.

 When you offer an international or one-day shipping service and it's selected by your buyer, your final value fee for shipping is calculated using whichever service is less expensive, either:

• The first domestic service in your listing that isn't one-day, or

• Your international or one-day shipping service

For example, if a buyer chooses international shipping and you specified free shipping as your first domestic option, you don't pay any final value fees on shipping charges for that item.

If international or one-day shipping is the only service you offer, your final value fee for shipping charges will be calculated on that service.

Free local pickup is not "shipping", so it does not count as your first domestic shipping option.

Yesterday, I sold an item to a buyer in France: $45 with "free" domestic shipping, $13 for shipping outside North America. So what showed up on my eBay account statement?

$4.12 FVF for the item.

Nothing at all for shipping.

"Free" domestic shipping = no FVF on shipping for international sales. Figured that out when eBay first announced FVF on shipping.

But if you offer multiple domestic options you pay FVF on the amount the buyer actually pays, not on the lowest domestic shipping offer. The lowest only comes into play when it's an international sale.

That's why the FVF on shipping is charged after the buyer checks out.
