Fewer views on listings

Hi

I feel like my my views drop when after I re-list an item. I will get 20 plus views on an item and when it's re-listed it get 3 -4 views. Why is that? I hope Ebay isn't limiting views because I don't pay to promote.

Please tell me I'm wrong and how I can get more views. Also, I have changed nothing on the item, except to lower the price.

Thank you

Because those interested already saw it. Unless you waited for more than 30 days after an item ended you cannot expect a jump in views.

When you pay to promote, the item goes towards the top of the page. It is a known fact that a buyer won't scroll very far. Therefore, the listings above you are going to get the views. You are trying to get sales by lowering the price. But maybe try a month that you have a competitive price and promoting the items, see how that does. It is not always the lower price that sells.

So in other words Ebay screws the seller again by creating pay to play. It’s too bad there isn’t a competitive selling tool that cares equally for the seller and buyer.

It's got nothing to do with paying to promote.   New listings always get (and have for many, many years) a boost in search for their first few days.   After that, they don't get that boost in search.   You actually get the boost when you relist too, but many people who are interested have already seen it at that point in time.

eBay screws the seller again?? I don't know about that. In a saturated market like it is on eBay there has to be a way to get noticed. Promoted listings are the solution. There are a few other tricks that you can do as well. I'm curious as to what your solution would be in a saturated market with hundreds of the same or near the same item would be?

As for another competitive site there are many out there, none as good and big as this one. I guess that is why it is so big, because it is the one that works. And from what I understand, the fees here are competitive if not lower than these other sites.

I play the game, and it works for me.

I see this on Social Media outlets as a musician all the time. If you announce a show, you get lesser views on the post than if you pay to promote. Yeah, my solution is to be fair. This is obviously another way for Ebay to make additional money off sellers. Please don't act like they're looking out of us. Geez.

Look I'll continue to use Ebay, that doesn't mean I have to like their policies or additional fees.

Please don't expect me to feel sympathy for poor ebay.

I totally agree with you. I'm just letting off steam. I will continue to use ebay, because of everything you said. But, I will continue to call them out when I feel like they are just doing something for additional profit. The pay to promote is exactly one of those things. I've been doing this for well over 20 years and I have watched Ebay slowly decrease how it takes care of the seller, even though we are their bread and butter.

Feel sorry for poor eBay?? Honestly, I don't care about eBay one way or another.  It is the best vehicle I have found to sell the things that would otherwise be junk. Over the years I have changed things up, rolled with all the changes and keep having record breaking years. It pays for my toys and extra spending cash. When that dries up then I'm out. As long as they keep stuffing money into my account. I'm good. Furthermore, if you thing the seller is the one that pays the fees and not the buyer you are doing it wrong.

If I have to pay an additional percentage to sell my product. Then my price raises by that much. See, it isn't the seller that is paying the fees. If the buyer doesn't want to do an extensive search and won't scroll past the first page, I want to be on it. But they are also willing to pay to be lazy. That is why I feel the promotion works. As for eBay making more money, um yeah. That's what it's all about. I want to make as much too.

Let m tell you how the promotion works. I paid to promote an item that sells very well on Ebay and It got 5 additional views after paying to promote. Didn't sell and has been delisted. Ebay is going to start losing the individual sellers because they're becoming another money hungry company that doesn't know how to take care of the people who actually make the money for them. I am really tired of hearing every one's defense of Ebay, like there paying you guys to talk good about them.
