Few or no views

Hi.  How come when I list items, often but not all the time, it will go with no views.  One item went a full 30 days.  If you don't promote does EBay even put it out there?  What about promoted listings (General) I see I can use what they suggest  9%, 18%...etc. or I can put in my own.  Let's say I put in 8% does that cut down of the amount of people it will be visible to? I'm asking all this cuz after I pay the shipping (I always do free ship) and EBay takes its portion and all the packing supplies (my items are mostly glass so I have to pack real well) I'm asking myself...is this worth it?  I'd appreciate any feedback.  Thanks, Rae

I bet you smell too good for most Ebay Buyers. My Buyers smell like butt and have lots of $$ cha-ching ching. Maybe i'll send some your way to freshen up. Lol, in all seriousness tho, Ebays been dead to me for a solid week now. All sorts of sellers cutting themselves low to get Product out or Biden/Trump is behind it.

Low views = low intrest in your items.

Is it worth it?

You are the seller.

You decide what to sell and how much to sell it for.

You decide how much profit you want to make on each sale.

While you have been on eBay for some time you appear to be a fairly new seller. It is not unusual for items to go a long time with no views it just depends on what people are looking for at the time. There is no way to prove promoted listings improves sales. It is a race to the bottom as you have to either incorporate the PL costs into your pricing or take it out of your profits. The only real winner is eBay as it increases their revenues.

I have never used, and never will use PL.

As for it being "out there" you currently only have 7 items listed and have sold 9 items in the last 90 days which is probably not too bad. I did a search for a couple of your items, shown below, and your items are "out there" and in most cases you are the lowest priced. One thing to consider is you offer free shipping which has a couple of potential disadvantages to both the buyer and seller. While eBay is always going to charge you FVF's on the shipping whether it is baked into the price and using free shipping or whether it is separate from the price, aka calculated shipping. Some buyers find free shipping to be attractive I avoid it.

First about 1/2 of the states do not charge sales tax on shipping if it can be identified separately as with calculated or flat rate shipping. Since the buyer is avoiding having to pay sales tax the seller is avoiding having to pay FVF's on the sales tax. Small amounts as far as $'s but it's a savings.

Unfortunately the items you sell are not eligible for the eBay International Shipping program since you cannot send perfume by air. As for the profit you are the only one who knows your investment return and whether "it is worth it". Crunch some numbers, suggest building a cost model, where you can input ALL your costs/expenses, what you list the item for and determine if you are satisfied with your return.

Well for what it’s worth we have been seeing an EXTREME POST CHRISTMAS lull in sales for the past few weeks. After restocking inventory for Valentine’s Day we are nearly broke with NO SALES YET, to support our investment yet. People probably tapped out of funds after Christmas for what we sell which is pretty expensive jewelry. I always get massive panic attacks when this happens but it usually recovers.

1 of my listings is in a category where it shows, when you check sold items, that 24,000+ have been sold.  My views? --->  0.000000000000000  No one collects this, I guess.  lol  Why would anyone be interested?  Mine is a lot & each can be bought for less than $0.40 while individual items sell for $3,4,5,6+  I must have priced myself out of range.  😛  Low views = we see the reality that eBay is not the powerhouse it used to be.

You could switch to calculated USPS ground shipping, lower your prices a couple bucks, and try promoting. I no longer use free shipping at all. Buyers have figured out that free shipping generally means the seller has just built the cost of shipping into the item price and that invisible shipping cost may actually be higher than the true shipping cost.

In any event, I'm recommending this approach to offset the potential loss you're worried about.  If you promote a fifty dollar item at 5% you'll pay about $2.50 in PL fees (it could be a few pennies more, I've never checked to see if the PL fee is assessed on the shipping fees as well, sorry).  You'll still take home more than you do with free shipping. If you see no change in your views (not all views get recorded, a potential buyer can favorite an item of yours with the little heart feature on the listings landing page without it showing up as a view) or sales after a month, go back to not promoting.

I find that the more you list, the more you sell.

Also, diversify. Don't sell only one type of thing.

You need some lesser priced items where you have more interest in more people. To build up your feedback #s. just examples; pony tail rings and holders, hair combs, maybe some earrings, maybe some generic nail tools and files. Maybe end a listing and relist it to refresh the listing. One item at a time. Especially if it has sat idle for several months. Good Luck

I have actually seen a surge in post Christmas sales but only on other venues and forums. EBay is on it's normal pace compared to the last couple of years. Weather has been the biggest issue in my area as far as local sales and pickups.
