20 year member of eBay here....100% feedback the entire time. Sold an item last night, funds are on hold till item is delivered. Is this a new policy? I've had zero issues with items sold in the past. Was told by eBay chat the reason is, I am only a "casual seller" **bleep**....75% of the sellers on this platform are casual sellers. The next thing is fees! I sold an item for $400, charged $50 shipping (still lost on that), and buyer paid $36 in taxes. I'm charged 12.9% on $486, and then 1099ed from eBay at the end of the year for sales of items that I already paid sales tax on when they were originally purchased! Just not right eBay.... Thanks for letting me vent

Not really new but it has become more pervasive under MP. The policy follows.

Not sure how you "lost" on shipping. I see the item you sold and it appears you used a flat fee and shipped using Priority Mail. Not sure of the size or weight of the package but you possibly got hit with one of the additional charges from USPS for the size of the package. You may want to look at using calculated shipping I have found that the shipping cost the buyer pays generally covers the actual shipping cost regardless of where buyer is located. As for the 1099 that pertains to income tax not sales tax. Sales tax on used item that have already had the sales tax paid on them when they were initially purchased is prevalent across most sales. Have you ever purchased a used car, bought anything from the Salvation Army, Goodwill or a consignment store? All of them charge sales tax.

Just addressing the 1099-K
All platforms are issuing this IRS Form for any 'transactions' that total over $600.00 in a calendar year. This is NOT a Sales Tax, but is considered INCOME (like a W-2) for Income Tax.....(your 1040)......
