Fees. Math???

I like how the 10% of my $3.00 S/H fee was 0.40 & it is 0.53 on $4.00.   Good thing I get 0 service from them when I do the packing & travel to the P.O.    lol

Huh?

FVF is on the entire amount the buyer pays to you.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Could it be the difference between USA and Canada payments?

There could be many reasons.

But to explain your fee, we would need to know:

  • the total price paid by the buyer including sales tax
  • whether you are in managed payments
  • whether you have a store subscription, and what kind
  • what category you listed in
  • what country your buyer was registered in
  • what your seller level is (top rated, above standard, below standard)
  • whether you exceed any of eBay's service metrics

All of these can affect your fees.

Are you in Managed Payments?

What are you talking about??  Shipping fee is 10%.  I charged $3 for S/H.  10% = 0.30.  Not 0.40.   Same with a $4 fee I charge.   10% = 0.40, not 0.53.    How is that a half truth??

NONE of what you say has anything to do with the FVF on shipping.  eBay's shipping fee is 10%.  Period.   It has nothing to do with the price of the item sold.

Since you're in Canada, I wonder whether it's related to currency conversion and the relative values of US and Canadian dollar.

Since you're a Canadian seller, maybe you'd be more appreciative of answers you receive on the ebay.ca discussion boards. Apparently, the FVF structure is different on ebay.ca.

There are some sellers that aren't really looking for answers, they simply need to vent and complain.

The op lists on .com, not on .ca and the fvf structure is the same on both sites.

As someone else suggested, it could be a currency issue. If they are listing on .com in $US and being billed in Canadian dollars the fee would have to converted to $C so it would be higher.

OP is likely not in MP.

What they are talking about is where the FVF on the sale price of an item, and the FVF on the shipping are displayed independently from one another on a separate line.

NO, it is not. It is the total fee off of the total sales, you are referencing the past. That system was changed when managed payments came in and ebay separated from paypal.

US 3.00 @ 10% = 30 cents

US 30 cents @ 1.28 = CA 38 cents

38 cents + 13% HST (Ontario) = CA 43 cents

Exchange rate changes will affect this amount by pennies depending on the ups and downs of the Canadian Dollar.
