Feedback Revision process

devon@ebay, nicole@ebay

It has been quite some time since I sent a Feedback Revision form and it appears the process has changed.  Before I go further I just want to clarify the current process as well as add a comment.

It appears that on the Feedback flow there is a choice to "Request Revision" instead of simply sending one.  Part of that Request Revision are three choices for reasons with the 3rd one being "Other".  The "Other" typing field only allows 80 characters yet the Help pages state they will send the Buyer "all the details" ... unfortunately, 80 characters are not enough to explain the situation ... especially in the case of a very inexperienced infrequent customer.

So what happens when the "Other" choice is selected and the "Request Revision" is processed???

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are saying but requesting a revision IS simply sending a revision request to your buyer.    So whatever you put in the other field is what your buyer will see. If you need to write more than that, you'll have to send them a message.

To be honest, when I used this form a few weeks ago, I thought that I was asking ebay to revise a feedback so it can be confusing.  But the request went right to my buyer who did chang  their feedback.... to something nastier. lol  But after I talked to ebay, they did remove it.

For what it's worth, Mr Lincoln, I generally suggest sending the buyer a message to make sure they're amenable to a revision. If they agree, let them know you'll be sending the request through the system and the e-mail from eBay will have easy instructions and links to follow.

@pjcdn2005   You hit the nail on the head, reading the excerpt from the Help pages then the Request Revision link it's almost like we are sending it to eBay, thus my question for Devon and-or Nicole to explain the process once the request is sent.

Its rather silly to have to tell a customer that they have to message you back and request something specific like a Cancellation and possibly this FB Revision process.  Then when you add in the inexperienced Buyer aspect where they may be technologically challenged, admittedly not familiar with how eBay works, critical of an item but not the Seller it adds a twist that the canned process simply does not address ... nor can be explained in 80 characters ... and oh, they recently made FB up to 500 Characters ... hmmmm.

@wastingtime101   I am waiting for a reply ... from several messages I am confident they would have to no issue processing the request but I can tell they aren't real tech savvy and have admitted they are not familiar with the ins and outs of eBay ...

@katzrul15   Good point ... but I suspect checking eBay is not a regular task for them ... as always, I started with letting them know they have 30 days for a Free return if for any reason they were not satisfied ... days later I got a reply ...

That's actually a good possible method to have a negative removed if it doesn't violate any policy. To send the buyer a revision making them even more angry so they revise it and hopefully do violate. Just a thought.

But the key is, did the buyer know you were going to send one, did they agree to it and do they know to be looking for an email from Ebay.

All of this really should be discussed with the buyer BEFORE sending a FB revision form.  They have a shelf life and sellers only have a certain amount of them available.  Once you send someone a revision for, if the buyer lets the request time out, you can't send them another.  It is a one time shot.

Which makes it even more important that the buyer knows it is coming and what to look for.  Otherwise they may just delete it or ignore it thinking it is just a marketing email or something from Ebay.
