Far away buyer buys local pickup item, willing to take mail-able substitute.

Listed a car door for local pickup. Guy on other coast buys and Paypals it. Says he thought it said free shipping. He asks if I have other parts which I can ship. I do. He is willing to take those instead for the same amount paid. How do I work this? Not sure if should just ship him the substitute parts. He could file SNAD. Do I just cancel that order and work from there?

Cancel the transaction and select problem with address or you'll be paying someone to take the door off their hands and shipping it to them for free...

EVERY buyer can file a SNAD for EVERY transaction!

All anyone has to do is claim they received the wrong item.

Now ask long time sellers how often that actually happens (yeah I know, car parts attract tricksters).

May be OK, but just seems a bit odd.

Earlier this month I had a woman purchase a dark gray widget, but left a note when paying saying that if I had a beige widget to just send that rather than the dark brown widget.

Told her that I only sent the item that is purchase, and would cancel the sale at which point, if desired, she could purchase the beige widget that I have listed.

Cancelled, refunded, crickets.............

Free shipping makes the price great at $119upside_down

I would not do it, but OP has a bigger problem if someone flips him in for a "choice" listing.

Noppers you can now do choice listings. I working with a local junkyard and going to list the entire car list one item from the car and a note to contact me through ebay messages if they need more parts and I'll cut them a deal on the parts they need. No more need to have 300 listings when one listing will cover the entire car...

@atikovi  "How do I work this?" ... if it were me I would message the Buyer asking for a list of parts they want shipped to them and then create a special listing that they can go ahead and buy PLUS the shipping cost you would include using Calculated Shipping.  Next, advise them to message a request to cancel the original purchase, that will allow you to recover the Final Value Fees plus you can Relist the door for sale on Local Pick up again.

Thanks for the correction on that. Did not know that it had changed.

Guess that is the new "private offer".
