The buyer claims that the Supreme shirt I sold him is fake and in the return request he includes a picture of a side by side comparison of the tshirt tags of a "fake" shirt and a "real" shirt. He claims in the message that he has a real shirt on hand and is comparing it to the shirt I sold him. However I googled image searched "supreme fake tag" and the image he sent is the first image that pops up. I've read other posts about this issue and most say to just accept the return but I feel like I might have a better chance since the buyer decided to use fake proof.

Wow. Funny that the buyer doesn't need proof for a return but they submitted it anyway. And they faked it too. It amazes me how some people can be so cocky.
But, depending on the value, the next move is yours. Is this worth the expense of your time and energy to pursue?

Unfortunately ebay is not going to care and they do not look at photos.
All a buyer has to do is cry fake, file SNAD, and you have to accept the return.
If not ebay will just step in and do it for you, resulting in a defect.
If he opens a case, check return for refund box. Wait until you receive your item back before refunding.
If he sends something other than your item back, like a fake one, come back here. But to be honest there is not much you can do about that either.

Unfortunately, you have no chance once a buyer claims fake or files SNAD with ebay. It is not clear from your post if they have filed a claim with ebay or your buyer is just 'fishing' in the scammer's pond to see how you will react.
It matters not to ebay or paypal whether or not a buyer is telling the truth for any claim of this nature. Some buyers make up a reason to return that will have you PAY for the return postage just for the chance of "maybe" getting your item back.

Maybe if you call Ebay Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM PST and speak to a American rep who is Knowledgable and plead your case, mention the google image search (maybe have a screenshot in your messages. That is going to take time though. And at this time of year?????? I dont know if it will work, but you can try!!!!!

Evening,
As much as you might not like my answer, the only chance that ebay is
willing, interested, and wanting you to do is cater to your buyer and take the return.
Remember...your battle is actually with ebay not the seller and ebay feels they have given you an opportunity to get rich selling here...and on the way they want you to be a model seller which means HAPPILY taking the return.

As others said more diplomatically than I can - you don't have even the tiniest chance of winning this, 0% chance, not going to happen. Accept the return graciously and save yourself from a major defect on your account, because that is what you will get if you ask eBay to get involved.

I think the current advice from ebay is to call c-s after you have received the item back and discovered the buyer did a switch. Before calling use the "report buyer" link and report for abuse of MBG and misuse of returns. Plus, I'd upload to the case a screen shot of the pictures that you found on the web showing the buyer just copied it. After all that call. Don't allow the case to be escalated (ebay to step in) without the rep agreeing to have it decided in your favor while you are on the phone. If you can't get that assurance, hang up and refund.
