Fake Buyers?

Lately I have recieved offers and msg from Supposed buyers asking me to text them (fake number on texting app mind you) to accept offer and discuss payment, they never complete the payment. of course I never send any into Via text, but this keeps affecting my selling because I now have two cancelled offers. What can I do. I've attatched one text example.

Fake Buyers?

Send them a $500 card and only charge them $200.

You might get some good feedback.

Fake Buyers?

So buyers and sellers send phone numbers back and forth with merry abandon, but a lowly bookseller gets slapped because the bot thinks an ISBN is a phone number.

Alrighty then...unamused

Perhaps the 'bots already knows there isn't going be a cut from the payment of the Steam card?

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

"Re: Fake Buyers?"

You are being terribly polite.  Those are 'scam' buyers, not fake buyers.  They will buy anything for nothing, and if you pay extra, they won't decline.

These people not being banned instantly is a serious problem. Sellers fall for this or they would stop trying. The fact this scam is picking up steam shows ebay is making it a ripe feeding ground for scammers.

Anytime a buyer contacts you outside of eBay it is a scam.

anytime a buyer wants to pay more it’s a scam.

Im surprised eBay has not stopped you from selling since you are going outside eBay to communicate.
