I'm sure most of you already know this, but just a friendly FYI for those who don't. I just found out yesterday. Fortunately i don't get a whole lot of cancellation requests.
1) If you cancel a transaction, the number sold does not go down. It remains as if the sale went through. You could conceivably show 100 sold on a item you only have 20 of.
2) If you cancel a transaction, the number of items sold on that transaction DOES NOT go back into your inventory. If you sold 2 items then cancelled the transaction, it will have decreased your inventory count by 2. You need to revise the listing and raise the quantity by 2.

Some smart seller will probably use this info on a multiple quantity listing to show sales where there haven't been any. The false sales figures might move them up in the search.

that's incorrect, if you sell a item the count on number sold on the listing goes UP not down, if the transaction cancels (for any reason) that number count on the listing remains.
The inventory count on the listing on your seller hub works as normal, item sold (wether transaction cancels or not) remains minus 1, you have update the inventory count manually to readd that 1.. you do not have to add 2 for 1!
I have cancellations now and then I'm well aware of how this works.
