FVF on item ended early.

I lost a bidder on my item because ebay communication issues did not let me receive their questions. I ended the listing early in an attempt to not lose more money than possible. Ebay then proceeds to hit me with FVF's based on what my item was bid up to at that time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Does this seem right? I realize that ebay probably has a policy somewhere on it that I am not aware of. However, policy or not, does this seem right is what I am asking. Thank you.

I feel a little guilty though because my reply probably wasn't the best one to be the solution.

I thank you but some of the other answers were more comprehensive than mine.

I think @fashunu4eeuh provided the most helpful tip with saying you can get one pass each year. It's important that you get those fees credited.

I hope you have better luck with your auctions.

Just remember not to use eBay's recommended starting price UGH

You can set your starting price and if the item doesn't get any bids you can always relist it anew.

I would look in the mirror and ask why in the world I started the auction too low.

The "ending a listing early" policy only offers two valid reasons for ending a listing early. Seller remorse about the expected price is not one of them :

• The item is lost, broken, or otherwise no longer available for sale.
• You made a mistake when creating the listing.

But to be completely honest, in the case you describe I would probably violate policy and end the listing anyway and accept the consequences. But I certainly wouldn't complain about how unfair it was - I would just thank my lucky stars that I only had to lose $9 in fees instead of $900 in inventory.

Hi - Thank you for your response. The bidder cancelled their bid. I saw that they said the reason they used to ebay was that I changed the description of the item. I emailed the bidder & told them it was fine that they cancelled their bid, but that I did not change the description of the item.  They email me back & said that they had sent me emails asking questions & that I never answered them, & this is why they cancelled their bid.  I told them I never got any questions, which I did not.                               Bidder may have not been telling the truth, I don't know, especially since I have not heard back from them.  However, it seems suspect when I keep reading about sellers, etc. having problems sending messages. Who knows?

Hi again pika - I pretty much figured it was a given that ebay had a policy about this issue. While I do appreciate the info. from the posters a good bit, kindness & some kind words mean so much more. That's why I selected your response as a solution. We can get ebay rules anywhere, but where can we go to get a little kindness & understanding ....
