Why did you even text that person when eBay policies clearly prohibit contact with other members outside of eBay? If you would have followed eBay's rules on outside contact, you wouldn't have run into this old, old scam.
Follow the rules. Don't contact anyone outside the eBay messaging system.

We don't allow our members to:
- Exchange any personal information (except names), including email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information
