I read on another forum that a seller says eBay is demanding to see their bank statement before they release around 5K. This person says they sell around 60k - 70k annually.
They sent a cancelled check and a copy of their driver license which eBay kept finding a reason to say there was a problem with and are back to demanding their bank statement. Understandably they're telling eBay to go pound sand.
Anyone had this experience and any insights as to why they would want to see your bank statement?

I suppose that varies from Country to Country. Back in the day, Our checks also included your home phone # and our Social Security #
That saved a merchant from asking for your identification. It was all there in black and white.

for my work area.
I may sleep in it it's so comfortable.

No, but then I don't sell any more; however, if they did require it and I did send it, they'd probably be sending me a sympathy card.

isn’t demanding my private banking transactions illegal ? A privacy matter?

I have no issues with showing a bank statement which shows the bank, account #, name address etc, but I strongly object to their "need" to see all my bleep transactions for 3 months. That imho is NONE of their business and I see no reason they need to see my transactions.
