Ebay will not send me what they owe me

Sold item on EBay last month. They collected approx $196. Their customer service refuses payment to me until I provide my checking account number. I do not give out that information. Have called them six times about this. Offered my credit card number. Offered to take their check or purchase credit. All this has been refused. Have been an EBay member since 1996. Over 950 transactions. 100% favorable rating. They have now suspended my account. They cite security concerns for refusing payment while not respecting my security concerns. They have an accounting department and could issue me a check if satisfaction was their goal. Am requesting help.

If you are paranoid about allowing access to the checking account that pays your rent, mortgage and other bills, get yourself another checking account. There are plenty of banks which will give you a free account.

Many of us opened a second account for PayPal and other online payments years ago. I never give any site access to my important bank account.

I won't even use Zelle from my important bank account.

Your checking account and routing number are on every check that you have ever written.

How do you think eBay can send you the payout if you don't share your account and routing number? Where are they supposed to send it? They don't send payouts to a credit card. It doesn't work that way. You have to provide a checking account, like every other seller on eBay in the USA has done.

@shag.exeYou need to have a checking account registered to get your payment. That's how managed payments work here. They won't cut a check, etc. You can get a separate online checking account and use that, which will leave your personal checking account private.

The only satisfaction that eBay is looking for is for you to provide the information they require. Since you refused they have restricted your ability to sell.

At some point down the road (at least six months) they will send your funds to the Unclaimed Funds office of your State, you can claim it there.

You have not sold on eBay for a very long time, how long you have been a member or what you sold 20 years ago is irrelevant.

It always shocks me that people aren't aware of this.

I didn't want to say anything, but yeah. I'd far rather give those common bits of information than credit card info.

Your claim that "ebay will not send the money they owe you" isn't accurate.

They WILL send it but they need your account number in order to know where to send it.

Have you ever paid a bill by check?
Do you pay any bills online by ACH?
Have you ever given someone a gift by writing a check?

In any of those instances, anyone who handles the checks you used (or the routing info for ACH payments) has access to the same information that ebay needs in order to send your payment.

This is the ONLY way to get paid.  Provide a checking account number and routing number and you will be paid.  I have been in this program for many years with zero issues.  This is required of ALL sellers.

Open a Chime account.  I even get interest on the monies collected from selling.   Plus  ATM and free check writing to pay bills from.

Does a Chime account work, since it's not a bank?

Have a great day.

Credit cards are for PAYING for items or debt. Credit cards have NEVER been able to receive payments for selling of items.

LOL ....  You are 100% responsible for keeping up to date on how ebay works by reading the User agreement updates and policies. .. Do not just assume things.

Certain prepaid debit cards have a routing and checking account number. An example is a Walmart Green Dot Card. You can try to enroll in Managed Payments to get this one payment. Getting the suspension lifted, to sell going forward, I am not optimistic.

It is eBay's sandbox and sellers must play by their rules.

Until you provide a checking account and your SSN, they can't pay you.

If you're that worried about it, open another checking account to use for Ebay.

Have a great day.

You'll have to play by eBay's rules or you'll be waiting for your money 'til the cows come home.
