Ebay's sales tax calculations are wrong!

I was reviewing my sales taxes collected and realized that ebay is calculating the rate at 7% instead of the 7.5% I have set up for my state, Ohio. I also checked the box to charge sales tax on S/H. Ebay did not apply that. When I talked with an ebay rep they found that there is a known issue with the problem but I have to "invoice" the buyer for the correct amount? I looked back and found this went on throughout 2017 and I missed it in my last report. The fact that ebay knows it isn't working and they continue to raise their fees and cut our discounts really **bleep** me off! I think I will call the State of Ohio and report that ebay isn't calculating taxes correctly. I know their answer will be  that I am still responsible for the correct tax and I have been paying it correctly, as I add up all my taxable sales and then do the math and send in the money. I just discovered that ebay/PayPal have been "shorting" me and saving the buyers money. But, then we all knew that ebay is all about the buyers anyway!

I am a buyer after purchasing multiple item from eBay comparing prices to manufacturers prices the difference are minimal. I would rather pay 10 or 15 More on a new item with warranty. For me It’s not worth it anymore because I am not saving money on the items I bought from eBay.

Before eBay started collecting sales tax you had to edit all your listings to reflect any updates or changes to the sales tax rates. Now that eBay is responsible for collecting sales tax it is their problem. If eBay is collecting the wrong amounts for city and state taxes based on where your item is going I would definitely consider reporting them to the appropriate government authority. I would recommend double checking what the city rate is for the destination of the item though. It may be different that what you are used to for the location of your business.
