Ebay page views way, no problem, yeahhhhhh

  On Saturday and for some days I noticed my page views had hit new lows.  I'm talking Saturday night I had 10 total page views and have absolutely no idea who or what generated that robust traffic.  Granted i only have 160+ listings so it's not like I have much bait.  

  I didn't want to delete my listings and sell similar.  That generates views but no sales.  So I decided to play around with prices, promotions and trs offerings to try and trigger something.  I jacked the prices temporarily way up,  offered a coupon and promoted at like 75%.  Naturally I got clicks but I also got outside traffic.  Unfortunately the wrong kind....

   I've already sold the item before on a best offer but the buyer in France of all places cancelled.  A little facebook group took notice and started criticizing my offering. Since then I've been fielding $1 and $0.99 offerings despite the fact I long since changed the price back to a more reasonable amount.  Not wanting to attract a real trouble maker or two I even replied to their post and gave them a lesson in ebay warfare.  Unfortunately I still have bees swarming around me. 

   Should I ignore it,  jack the price back up and see if they keep on generating traffic that ebay some how likes and helps my other listings,  or have a cup of tea?   Mind you I only have I think 164 listings but had 1000 page views yesterday. It is something to think about when one considers ebay is basically training us to do ALL of our own search engine optimization.  In other words ebay is no longer going to help us and it's like we're on a stand alone site.  It's very hard to generate actual organic traffic you brought in yourself and wasn't the result of a search.  I think as a whole i'd be doing okay if several of my other items got that much traffic.  I know it's bad but the old show business saying holds true,  no such thing as bad publicity unless they do something nefarious.

So you are on some Facebook group's radar?

Essentially all the traffic is outside clicks from folks who have no intention to buy, just bash e-Bay on Facebook?

Sounds like a recipe for a mess waiting to happen.

I'd put my listings on vacay for a few days and hope they got bored and found someone new to harrass......good grief!

   I don't know what bashing ebay on facebook has to do with anything.  I didn't...yet.  SEO is a valid subject as most of us are not experts,  myself included.  I go by feel and do not know how to run a stand alone website and get high search ranking.  We sellers have to try something.  

   That's not the only thing that happened recently though.....I was watching a documentary on A&E and it looks like they either used one of my items or were inspired by it.  ha!  I have sold to theater companies before.  

   I am just trying in vain to raise funds to move in another direction.  I really don't like this whole ebay game anymore.  A year ago I could sell a piece of paper a dog half ate now i'm lucky to have 1 sale a month.

So sorry on your sales languishing.

Several months back on the smaller selling account, I did actually end all listings.

Then relisted via sell similiar and re-did each one.  It was work, but paid off big time as there were no sales really on the smaller one - 1-2 per day. 

164 listings is just not enough listings to get you seen on here.  You need new listing activity each day.

Thanks, good luck  with your sales as well.  The people generating the traffic are actually talking on a facebook forum about harassing me.  Ridiculous.  It's a pity I have nothing good to sell. I can sell much better than a lot of people.  Honesty is my 1st policy and it starts with using a real camera and not a cellphone.  although my most recent ads I was so jaded I did not properly set up lighting.
