Having worked in the film industry, this is not acceptable and is censorship.

Also, eBay has no problem allowing inappropriate pornographic material being seen without the proper Adult Content restrictions (i.e. in regular searches and not the correct Adult Categories).

Ebay is a private site and they are well within their rights to prohibit certain things.

Porn is not supposed to be listed outside of the Adult section. If you find some, report it.

I think a lot the problem there, not all mind you, is where is the line between art and porn?  Many consider nudity as being porn - so is the "The Birth of Venus' art or porn.  There are still a lot of people who get really riled up about nudity - if you 'were there' and remember it, think about the 'Meese Commission' and how many jiggles are permissible on 'Charlie's Angles'?  Smiley Very Happy

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

This whole "private company do what they want" argument is foolish. It's part of an agenda.

eBay is not a private site, it is a publicly traded company.

eBay does have the right to restrict certain items and should do this to keep the site safe for all.  This particular film is like many WWII films and does not endorse the Nazis or their cause, but is about the U.S. assault to help end the war.  There are also many listings for this film currently on eBay, so it appears this is a "selective" removal for this Seller.

Re. the pornographic material, their are thousands of Adult Items in the wrong categories, which can be seen by anyone on the site (and children).  I have reported this in detail with Concierge Customer Support and they have not been removed.

What the*dog meant (if I may be so bold) is that ebay restricting items is not censorship because ebay gets to make the rules, within the parameters of all federal and state laws, of what is listed on its site.

Now, if ebay was saying LGBTQ  people can't list items here, ebay would be in a world of hurt.

In the meantime, I agree that restricting that type of movie is a bridge too far.   Ebay's logic (if ebay has logic) is that if one made-for-public-entertainment movie with Jack Palance and a bunch of dead Nazis in it is allowed, then pro-Nazi propaganda movies would be allowed.

That's what I was gonna say next, I asked the customer service rep why there were 7 other copies available, & he said those will be removed as well. It's getting way out of hand

First of all, eBay disallowing the OP to sell a specific movie on their site has nothing to do with the film industry, per se.

That aside, what exactly was your role in the film industry? Did your work in the industry involve researching censorship laws? Because eBay restricting the sale of ANYTHING on their site is not censorship in any legal sense of the word.

"The First Amendment protects against censorship imposed by law, but does not protect against corporate censorship, the restraint of speech of spokespersons, employees, or business associates by threatening monetary loss, loss of employment, or loss of access to the marketplace." [Emphasis added.]

No rhyme, reason, or logic to it, but every once in awhile I get a message from them that they have removed one of my listings for Ballantine history books because it has a picture of a swastika or Nazi flag on the cover. It's an integral part of the book and always makes me wonder if some other seller has complained or if they have simply flipped out.

The recent flap about the "Betsy Ross flag" on shoes is another ridiculous sensitivity issue. To me it is the same or similar to making a reference to George Washington or Thomas Jefferson and their times. It's history, it happened, let's study it, learn from it, and move on. What's next, raze Saratoga or the Alamo because they deal with radical revolutionaries?

What is big news? That corporations are, generally speaking, exempt censorship laws? It's hardly news . . .

Don't forget about SCHINDLER'S LIST and The PIANIST! Guess they will add them to the list as well. Should we start reporting them? It's a joke, they need to take care of the Porn all over the sight in categories that they don't belong in and all the "SEXY" models wearing NOTHING that the China Sellers use to sell their cheap clothing.
