Ebay keeps giving me an Oops error when I try to refund

I am trying to refund a buyer - I thought I had cancelled the item once they purchased it, but that didn't go thru. So they opened up a case on ebay. I messaged them, apologizing, and then proceeded to do a refund.  My debit card has money in it.  I verified it with ebay - i added it and ebay stated it was verified for payouts.  I am trying to refund the buyer and I keep getting an Oops error and try again later.    Anyone else experience this and how they resolved it? I have to wait until later to chat with a live person, but I thought I would ask here first.

thank you so much!

A couple of missing pieces. Had the buyer paid you when you canceled the order? What reason did you use for the cancelation? How do you know the cancel did not got through? Generally when you cancel and order where the buyer has paid the buyer is automatically refunded.

What type of eBay case did they open? How have/did you respond to the case? How were you attempting to do a refund? I am assuming this is the item?

Maybe "Oops"  is an error and the buyer has actually been refunded.

Also,   The thought that he hadn't paid occurred to me too.

Agreed there are simply too many missing pieces/details in the OP so difficult to say. Also possible buyer is trying to scam him out of a second refund.

I had a buyer open a case and was also not able to refund.   I had to let the case play out and resolve through eBay.
