Are we allowed to advertise our active items on the socioal network sites eg
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc. ?
With the present climate of slow sales, having them on the different sites could be sales boosting.
Just a thought and any ideas would be apprecated.

Just be careful re twitter - tweet too many links to ebay items and the bots will consider it spam (twitter's that is)
Ah, good point!
Instagram would seem like an excellent venue for pushing your eBay stuff, depending on what you're selling.
Is there still a link in the listing form for sharing your listing on Facebook?

Instagram is a fantastic online venue for selling. Instagram had 800 million registered users as of September 2017. That is a lot of eyeballs!
I have been using it as a selling venue for almost 3 years now. It took me about 2 to 3 months to learn the ropes and to develop a decently crafted strategy for selling my wares there, but IMO it has been well worth my time and energy. I now give it as much of my time and attention as I do to any of the other four online marketplaces that I sell on, including this one. I also enjoy photography so it fits into my wheelhouse quite nicely.

Yes ... but .... be considerate of your actual friends and family. Friends don't let friends SPAM their feed 🙂
Set up a business Facebook page, a business Instagram and a separate Twitter handle.
Invite your friends and family, follow some people on IG & Twitter (find them by keywords that you will be using to post).
As someone else said, be careful of Twitter. They do ban "spammy" accounts.
Don't just post links as-is. eBay's default "check it out" content is just lame LOL.
Try to post actual content in between listing posts. Stay on topic, though ... content related to your items is good .... pics of your pets and your lunch, not so much 😉
Example....I sell china and crystal. I post my items ... and I post table setting ideas ... pictures of lovely food on lovely plates, articles about summer dining, fall dining, winter dining, etc ....
I also put a business card in every package. It lists my eBay store, my Etsy shop and all of my social media and business email address ... I have gotten cross sales from Etsy and eBay because if that ... and new followers on one or the other of the accounts.
It will take a while to build a following, but it will happen if you are consistent and interesting.
I have found that IG is bringing the most sell-through lately

I almost forgot ... don't ignore Pinterest.
But ... another warning about that ... keep your boards clean ... delete all broken links (solids and unsolds that are 90 days old). Pinterest will derank you for stale broken links.
Pinterest images are very googleable ... make sure that your content is spot on with good keywords and direct links.
As with the others, set up a separate account.
What you are trying to do is create a "brand"....so your social media handles should be all the same (or as close to it as possible) and they should relate to your store name or username
