My sales are down at least 50% since they implemented those bogus policies in 2019, Now instead of having over 1,000 listings per my store subscription I only keep about 900 so not to go over and be hit with those TRICKY fees. How does that help either of us. Just the other day over 200 listings got relisted under this head scratching policy when I stepped out for a bit so I had to end and relist them to get a new start date so that = 400 listings WOW ! (Who wants an old start date ~ looks like it has been around forever) Now I am out of my 1,000 listings and can't list any more without paying extra listing fees. (SO TIRED OF HAVING TO MONITOR MY LISTINGS THIS WAY)
I guess I will put all the new ones on a different site how unprofessional !!! (They loose out not me)
What a Blessing that this is not the only selling platform out there !!!!
Good Luck to all & Happy New Year

Sellers should be able to run stores the way they see fit.

Why end 200 items that just relisted, just to relist them again?
What can you do with a new start date, that you can't do with the old one.

This is one of the biggest complaints by sellers!
eBay needs to change this practice. If your going to enforce the 30 days until sold, at least have the renewed listings show under "newly listed" time frame so they appear at the top.

my understanding is that if your buy-it-now listing automatically relists, it is still listed deep in the category listing. Not at the top of "newly listed"!

No. A relisted item that has been listed before is not a newly listed item and it defeats the entire purpose of the "Newly Listed" search feature for buyers if sellers just keep relisting the same old stale inventory over and over again to shove it to the top of the search.
I saw it the first time it was listed when I was checking my saved search and didn't want it then. I don't want it to keep coming up in search repeatedly because I search by "Newly Listed" for a reason-- I want to see what is truly brand new as I am looking for specific collectibles to fill in my collection. Relisted items just clutter up the search and make it more difficult to sort through the actual new items.

New listing is just one of the many factors that determine search results. I have noticed items that I sell the will rank the highest. This make sense because eBay want to show the fastest selling items. Other factors include free returns, next or same day shipping, fewer returns, and etc.

Make your items look new with a new start date instead of it showing up as over a month old ! That's why GTC is a horrible policy for my store ! With all these games they play a lot of my listings go to other venues and eBay looses not me.

That's why I end my listings before eBay ends them and relists them with the old start date so they show as new listings. Not much for these GOOFY games they play. Until my subscription ends I will have to endure !
I wish they would realize if they did not change so may policies they would get all my listings which include about 800 more that are not on this site.

I think if you look at it from Ebay's perspective you are trying to game the system and that is why they made it more difficult. Ebay wants the nuyer not to be bogged down with relisted items relisted as "sell similar" so it can go to the top. I mean that is exactly what you want to do. I don't like the system for a different reason because I lower my prices monthly and for a person who liked my item but not the price. That item is still way down at the bottom even though I may have the exact item in a different color listed recently sell for 4 times as much, but he didn't see the other one for a price of almost giving it away that is many months old.

If I am going to PAY again, I want to start at the TOP again. Why pay .35c (through money, free listings, whatever) and have it remain buried when a re list or taking it down and re doing it gives it more exposure.
As a seller, I am going to do what benefits me most, not eBay or even the buyer. I am not a charity, I am here to make money to pay my own bills. As it gets harder and harder to make any money here, why would sellers not look for anything that might help them pay their heating bill? GTC isn't to stop stagnant listings restarting, it's a money grab from eBay to the sellers to line their pockets and please their shareholders. It's making them a lot of money too.
If eBay insists on GTC, and they do now, then there should be some sort of discount or other incentive to sellers that allows them to relax and not feel they have to stop and re start the listing in order to get 'their' money's worth. I'll list and SELL THOUGH on other sites before I spend extra time here babysitting and worrying about listings rolling over. I just end them now, come back if they haven't sold elsewhere and put them up.
In quick selling items, GTC makes perfect sense. For collectibles or long tail, it does not work as well. I sell collectibles and LT.
Other sites do not do this (I cannot speak for Amazon, I do not sell there), and sellers are filling them up quick since GTC went into effect here. I sell way better too on one of these other sites, have 12 sales so far since the morning and it's only 3:25 PM here 🙂

And that's exactly what buyers hate. It's not new. We don't want to see it again. There was a reason we didn't buy it the first time we saw it.
