Ebay Partial Refund Minimum Amount?

I tried today to refund a regular buyer $0.85 in excess combined postage on a couple of inexpensive postcards. It's not much money, but generates good will and encourages repeat business. I was unable to enter an amount less than $1.00 (which is what I sent him). Is this something new? Where on ebay does it state there is a minimum on refunds? Thanks

Back in the day when ebay invoiced sellers for fees, they refused to accept any payment under $1.00.

Strangely since MP though they insist on sending payout amounts of less than a dollar.

I'd prefer they had some consistency and also didn't send payouts for less than a dollar.

How are you entering the amount you want to refund.  Are you just putting in 85 or are you trying to put in .85, which I don't find it will accept.  Try typing in 0.85 and that should work.

@jamesdouglasgallery $1.00 is the minimal amount allowed for purchase (or sale) on ebay, thus the minimal amount allowed for refund is $1.00

Absolutely brilliant! It works. Now why would eBay make this so hard?? When listing  an item using the listing tool, we never need to enter a zero first in any of the entry fields for amounts below a dollar (i.e. handling fee, starting price,  etc.)  Thanks.

@mam98031 i do not, how I know is because several months ago I messed up on order I had already packaged up and sent out where I forgot to include a piece of the release. The buyer is outside the US and using a mail forward service. I an effort to correct the mistake I contacted the buyer and we discussed possibilities...that I then had to call ebay and go over and see what would be allowed and what wouldn't be (to protect both me and the buyer). The option came down to me have to create a new listing for the missing piece in the package I already sent, and for that listing I had to charge a minimal of $1 for, which I did and then to refund that buyer the minimal also had to be $1 - so that's what I did, I charged $1 and refunded $1 and paid to ship the missing piece out of my own pocket (which I didn't mind, it was $2 and change to do).

There isn't a minimum, but the thing is if it is less than $1, then you have to enter it 0.50 or whatever you want to refund.  It has to have the 0 up front.  The OP tried it and it worked.  See post 8

maybe it did ...i told what ebay told me directly, which was minimal amount you can list something was $1 and the same went for refund... maybe they were wrong about the refund part idk, i only needed to resolve a matter and doing it the way they instructed me required $1 purchase which I refunded the buyer immediately, never tried to refund someone in cents...but anyways good to hear it worked out.
