Ebay Global shipping ??? Part 2

Thanks for all of the help in the original question about the Global Shipping Program.

Next related  issue/question:  Buyer from Italy has made me an offer on my two vintage slide rules.  Original listing was for FREE US SHIPPING and no international shipping.  When Italian man expressed an interest via PM, I edited my listing to use the Ebay Global Shipping program-thanks to the info I received here via my original post.

Buyer has made me a decent offer.  That is, if I'm ONLY on the hook for the shipping to KY on my dime.  If I'm also on the hook somehow for the shipping to Italy (since I listed it as "Free Shipping"), then it's not such a great deal.

What's going to happen if I take this guy's offer?  I have had zero interest from a USA based buyer, at this point.  I don't want to assume that I'm only required to get this item to KY and then find out that I also have to pay to ship it to Italy, out of my end.

TIA.

Ebay Global shipping ??? Part 2

The downside is that if the buyer files a SNAD you have to pay FULL shipping from ITALY to get them back, there's no "reverse" GSP on a return.

Buyer would pay beyond GSP center.

then again we don't know what the extent of the offer entails.

Some offers are made to include shipping, or at least thinking it will include all shipping.

That all has to be very clear before you proceed to avoid complications/anger.

Edit:  buyer should be seeing

US $25.02 shipping
$36.50  customs
Italy

Looking at your listing for 2 vintage slide rules, you have free shipping to the USA, so you will receive the offer price, and you are responsible to ship it to Erlanger, KY 41018.

The buyer is responsible for the international shipping (which is shown to be $25.02) and the Import Charges ($36.50 based on the BIN price of $150). That money will be sent directly to Pitney Bowes. They will use it to send the item to the buyer and pay the duties and taxes (Italy has 22% VAT) on the buyer's behalf.

Assuming that the sale price is the BIN price, the buyer would pay the total amount of $150 + 25.02+ 36.50 = 211.52 from the eBay checkout page.

PayPal divides it into two transactions. You will receive the sale price $150. The rest ($61.52) is sent directly to PPB in a separate transaction. (Obviously, if the offer price is less, the cost for the import charges and the total cost will change.)

You don't pay any of the international costs.

Best Offer feature is out of my realm of experience.  But you need to make sure the listing is in the GSP before buys it, make sure he's aware of the GSP charge to him (including duty and taxes, eBay should display all that to him in your listing), and make sure he has not altered the shipping part of the deal in his Offer.

At that point, yes, you only pay to ship it to KY, so if you're were going to do domestic Free Ship anyhow...  the buyer pays all the GSP ship charge (plus taxes) from KY to Italy, which is added on to your price.

It sounds like you didn't have the gsp enabled when the buyer first contacted you so before you accept the offer, make sure they know that the listing now shows the amount they will have to pay the gsp.

GSP is about one of the only things ebays gotten right, but like everything else the scammers have figured out the loophole, but slide rules wouldn't be a top priority for scammers they want more fluid merchandise...
