Ebay Fees

I just sold my first item under the new payment system and noticed the total fees assessed on the sale  included the taxes paid by the seller directly to Ebay.  I thought Ebay was not going to charge the seller fees on any taxes they collected  so what is up with this?

If you read the ebay fee schedule carefully, you will see that ebay charges the FVF on the TOTAL amount the buyer pays.   That includes taxes.

EBAY charges fees on tax is because they do all the bookkeeping and remit taxes for you.   Otherwise you would be required to file 50 different tax returns to all the states.

The payment processor charges a percentage based on the total payment amount, whether it's eBay or PayPal.

When you signed up for managed payments, the managed payments fees page very clearly stated that eBay was going to do this.

If eBay explicitly told you they were going to do this, what made you "think" they weren't?
