EBay representative won't follow up on promises

This is my second post about the same issue.

 

I called EBay customer support yesterday 1/12/2019.  It was not a major issue to the survival of EBay but it was important to me.  I spent approximately 20 minutes on hold and then in conversation.  The young lady I spoke with assured me she understood my issue and that, SHE WOULD FOLLOW UP by emailing a seller.  Seems we can no longer contact a member directly even though we have had business with them.  Anyway...she also assured me she would copy me on the email.  SHE DID NEITHER...I know ALL CAPS don't add much to the conversation but it makes me feel better.  

 

So...today, 1/13/2019, I first used the "Have us call you" feature...I first called at 11:40 am CST.  It took three such calls spread out over about 15 minutes but no one called me back.   Being the ever intrepid EBayer I am, I finally called them and got right through.  Here's the stinger....Not only could the young lady from yesterday not do what she promised...SHE COULD NOT HAVE DONE SO EVEN IF SHE HAD WANTED.   Today's customer representative said that it would violate the seller's privacy if they contacted her on my behalf...Really EBay!!!!!

 

FYI...EBay finally called me back at 12:11 pm.

 

So...in all, I figured I've wasted another hour or so with the two calls and still don't have an answer.  I feel like the young lady I spoke with today was right...It does make some kind of sense...but the basic questions still remains...Which one do I believe?  In the end I just continue to wonder in the EBay fog of confusion and hope for the best.

 

I'm reminded of a bumper sticker I saw one..."If it ain't broke...fix it until it is...and always keep them confused".

 

I post here only in the remote hope that someone from EBay actually reads these and has the basic good sense to realize this is just not right and is a major crack in the confidence we have in EBay.

OK...I'm going away now...but I'll most likely be back.

Not all ebay cs are properly trained. 

 

Since you do not state what the problem is it is hard to advise which cs was correct.

If you had recent business with a seller, you can contact them. You can't be blocked. This seems, then, that your business was not recent, and the seller blocked you from communication. You don't mention why you want to contact the seller, which may have significant bearing on this.

Perhaps the CS rep was reluctant to breach the seller's express wishes as to their block. Sellers are allowed to block bidding and communication for any reason or no reason.

Just as buyers can choose who to buy from, sellers can choose whom they wish to sell to and communicate with.

 

There are also sellers who routinely do not answer questions, and they use the Ebay block to do so.  Their volume or staff precludes that and they consider their listings to be sufficient to answer questions.

Perhaps you might have asked your question on this Board to avoid those hours spent with CS.

This Board is a member to member Board, not Ebay, though.
