I dont know if I am posting in the right spot, but I feel so strongly about this, I wanted to try. Why is ebay still doing the virtual Ebay Open?????? I tried to attend last year but was bored to tears and finally gave up. Am I the only one who wants it back in Vegas or anywhere for that matter...just in person?????

They say it is also in person.
Our in-person eBay Open Studios kick-off on Tuesday, September 26 in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Phoenix. This will be followed by three days of seller-led sessions, category breakouts, inspiring keynotes, networking opportunities, and more from Wednesday, September 27 through Friday, September 29.
I’m guessing they do virtual for those who can’t attend in person.

Why? Well that is simple, those big events they used to hold in Vegas cost a lot of money as in MILLIONS of Dollars.

Not to mention that in-person only events severely limit the number of people who are able to attend in the sense that not everyone can afford to travel just for an event/get time off from work to attend one.

I'm not sure eBay has the buzz anymore to have those big conventions. They DO cost a lot to put on.
If I recall they tried having regional opens or meetings of some sort but they were ridiculously short, like three hours.

Because the statistics from the previous years tell them that it worked well. Many sellers were reached that they can't reach with the in person versions because many can't afford airline tickets, hotels, food, transportation while there and the cost of the event. It adds up and gets very expensive.
Now they are having several live events across the country, so you can check to see if there is one close enough to you so you can attend in person. These aren't near as expensive.
I like the virtual event. I've attended every year it has been offered. While not everything is my cup of tea, there is enough where I learn things and my time is well spent.

Huge waste of time and money

For some sure it is, for others it isn't. This site has far too many members to be able to make everyone happy. That doesn't mean the event is any less important to many members. For you it isn't, I respect that.
