Hello! I’m a top rated seller on eBay and I’ve been a member for 15 years. I recently came across a very terrifying scenario as a seller and I need some help/advice.
I sold a very expensive jacket on eBay back in December that the buyer wanted to return. The buyer never ended up returning the item and two months later, opens up a payment dispute.
I then spoke with a customer service rep who told me I was covered with eBay seller protection, so I didn’t worry too much.
On May 1st, the money was taken out of my eBay account without notice or reason why. I had to go into my cases to see that eBay closed the case in the buyer’s favor with no evidence supporting the reason why this decision was made. I called eBay on May 1st and numerous times since and they told me they will appeal the decision that was made. It is now June 3rd, and I get absolutely nowhere every time I call. Any suggestions for how to handle this now?

It appears likely buyer filed a PayPal dispute or a chargeback with their credit card co.

If you have Facebook people seem to be getting action on these things by sending polite messages to the eBay for Business page there. eBay does zip to defend against chargebacks where PayPal used to decline them if you could show an item was delivered.

I tried the EBay for Business Facebook page and they forwarded me to customer service.

Well, that is certainly a "new" one. What were your choices given to respond, as in supplying or a picture with no text box?
Have you contacted the MP customer service team to find out a bit more about this "other"?

I was allowed to provide one photo. So I uploaded a photo of tracking info proving the item was delivered. Since the buyer never opened a return request or even sent the item back, I thought this would be a very easy win for me. Yes, I’ve contacted them and they told me the buyers financial institution decided to side with the buyer and there’s nothing they could do about that. By the way, this was a transaction over $900.

This is not new Ebay is doing this everyday they are all about the buyer and seller protection is a complete fraud. Customer service is a complete joke. I have been dealing with a charge back for months. This is terrible but standard practice for ebay.

eBay CS on FaceBook won't/can't answer Payments questions, that's why they were directed to contact Payments CS.

Did the buyer message you saying they wanted to return it? Above you said this, "I sold a very expensive jacket on eBay back in December that the buyer wanted to return. The buyer never ended up returning the item"
