I have been a member for 18 years over 900 transactions with 100% rating, I had not sold on E-bay since their change to manage money transactions until this week only to find out that my money is on hold for 30 days. This is unacceptable !!
Called talked to a rep. he said it was the law that they could not release my funds any sooner !! That is a bald face lie, The he went on to say because I had not sold anything for awhile that I have to prove myself again that I sent the items sold... THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.... I have been here for 18 years with no problems and now I get penalized..... E-bay just lost a customer !!!!

I hate it that you weren't aware, but if you've taken a lapse in selling, you're treated like a new seller... with a 'new seller' hold on your funds. The good news is that it may be less than 30 days... hopefully, 21. Hang in there...

Unfortunately if you have not sold in a while, e-Bay has implemented the holds you describe.
Has it been a while since you have sold on here?
My understanding is the 30 day payout holds apply for new/new-er sellers and those who perhaps had a break in selling. They also apply to every Seller potentially on high value items.
Good luck on what you decide. If your items sold, do not cancel the orders - make sure you process them.

Since you haven't sold in a while, ebay has to make sure it is not a hijacked account. That would account for the long hold.

As with all things, it is important to be informed so that you don't become blind sided. I hope that you ask questions and read up on the changes/challenges that selling and buying have on any site you choose to work on. EBAY is a business not unlike any other business and has its requirements.
I understand your frustration and anger, but if you take a step back and breathe you may see how this too will change.
Patience is important. I know funds can be tight, but you will receive your monies. If you give it a chance, eBay today is still one of many good options to sell on. Diversification helps
I know you will make the right choice for yourself.
The very best moving into the holiday selling season wherever that may be,
Grandma

As a business owner myself I would never change requirements for existing customers, If they want to implement changes like these then do it for new customers, as I stated I had been loyal and maintained a 100% rating, It is unacceptable to now treat any customer that has 18 years of working together (and over 900 transactions) as if they never knew them.. E-bay has made a very bad decision and they will loose revenue over these types of policies.
I am now going to be as loyal as they are to me, therefore I am done with e-bay !!!
And of course I read up on requirements of doing business with any business, that has nothing to do with what E-bay has done !!
I think not only do they charge to much for selling, they have a staff that is not trained either, When I am told they have to hold my money for 30 days because it is the law is outrageous and show the ignorance of management...

Yes indeed I would never cancel orders !! Shipped as promised !!
Thanks

Also just to be clear.. during my lapse in using E-bay my mother died and having to deal with all of the issues with that situation I was not able to maintain a weekly selling routine, What e-bay asked for was a new bank account which I complied and was verified by E-bay....

This issue seems to be popping up more frequently on the boards. I wonder if eBay has changed their definition of what "sold anything for awhile" means with regards to established sellers. Maybe it's time to pressure your Congress Person to pass laws similar to those in place in several states that require banks to pay the customer interest on funds held in escrow.

The point would be that you stopped selling.
EBay is protecting itself from sellers who don't know about the many changes on the site in the past year or more.
And also protecting members from older, apparently abandoned accounts being hijacked.
And protecting buyers from the plague of throwaway accounts who offer too good to be true deals, then disappear with the money. I doubt this was why they made Managed Payments so difficult to set up, but it has been an unexpected and welcome result.
Active members were given about three years of notices, and there has been a lot of angry comment about the changes as they came in. There were no secrets.
