I sold an item to buyer in Australia for $67. Buyer paid $73 because of his import tax. Ebay charged my final selling fee based on$73, not $67 that I sold the item for. Then they also charge me an international selling fee based on $73, not $67. So they are charging me fees based on a price more than I sold it for! I called and talked to agent. The rational is that eBay has to pay that import tax that the buyer paid back to their country, so ebay charges seller fees based on what the buyer paid, not what the seller sold the item for! Unbelievable policy!

"...so ebay charges seller fees based on what the buyer paid..."
umm...yeah....how else can they base their fees?
Been this way for a few years now.....domestically OR international....
You are really taking the time to post about and additional 64.5 cents in charges?
(67.00 ---> 73.00)
and the international charges has been around since indoor plumbing
It is not unbelievable...it is not hidden.....

RE Your headline.
THANK YOU for making my piece of the pie just a little larger.
I sell and ship all over the world. I have product on all 7 continents. BUT I made it a point to investigate what the various costs would be and I factor all that into my overhead/selling price. eBay has all that information right out in the open. You should have investigated and known your costs before you listed and sold the item. Then you would not have to waste time ranting over 65 cents.
